Only Funny Thing This Week

From teacher site:

A first grade school teacher in Virginia had twenty-five students in her class. She presented each child in her classroom the first half of a well-known proverb and asked them to come up with the remainder of the proverb.

It's hard to believe these were actually done by first graders. Their insight may surprise you. While reading, keep in mind that these are first graders, 6-year-olds, because the last one is a classic!

I wonder how many they had to go through to get those funny answers. Shame that the kids will be indoctrinated so much that later all their answers will be the same.

Damo most of those are good things to know.

Funny thing is there are a couple I cant remember the real answer to.

11 and 21 have always bothered me.

The rest of them (that I know) are inciteful little ditties.

There is a cohesiveness to society sharing common phrases.

It only gets scary when they are not combined with the honoring of individual thought.

I love kids' fresh perspectives! They help us look a little differently at what's become habit and familiar.

I grew up when the Cinderella story was pretty much understood as it was apparently intended. A friend of mine has a 4-yr-old daughter who saw the movie and was puzzled as to why Cinderella was crying. My friend explained that she cried because she didn't have a dress and couldn't attend the Ball. The little girl exclaimed, "Why doesn't she just go to WalMart?"! So different from what we understood, and this was a great reminder of how much things have changed.

Desh's post made me wonder, how many of these could I finish?

Those are nearly all right, good job!

#4. Never underestimate the power of ... a woman (though I like your answer better! :) )
#11. I'm not sure, it could be "few" instead of "none".

I have no idea on earth about the happy bride saying, or the blind leading the blind. Maybe the kids had it right after all!

Oh that is a great story Thorn. It cracks me up the things they come up with. My niece has stumped me more than once.

I looked them up, my 'stupidity' one dates quite a while back, wish I'd invented it! LOL!

You are right on 11, "...a few" by Wm. Shakespeare no less. ;)
