OT: Politicians Getting Along

I was just reading a portion of an interview with Harrison Ford from 2007. He spoke of going to a WH state dinner where he said he saw rival politicians hanging out and laughing together, basically being really nice to each other. He said he thought to himself it's all a game when they bash each other during the day.

I know this is random but it made me think because people disagree politically or fight for different priorities does it mean they can't be cordial to each other or still even like each other?

Two thoughts on this:

One is that few people are so involved in their particular political philosophy so as to allow it to determine who they are willing to associate with.

Two is that politicians from opposing camps are likely to get along with each other (in private) because it is doubtful many of them actually hold to the political philosophies their respective parties advertise to J.Q. Public. They have more in commonalities being successful politicians than differences caused by advertised beliefs.

LOL, yes, politicians getting along means that there's a vast global conspiracy.

No, just a vast, country wide, status quo to maintain. Why else would you have political families now? Why else would you have senators/reps who hve been in office since before you or I was born and never held another job in their lives? Of course their friends, few other would want them.
