Our meddling in Ukraine has never made much sense to me

I guess it makes sense if you are laundering money in the form of foreign aid and weapons contracts to help your donors and family get richer.

Long ago, Russia made it clear that NATO cannot expand into Ukraine, which is understandable for the same reason the USA wouldn't tolerate allow the Soviet Union putting missiles in Cuba.

I seem to recall that Russia was willing to negotiate and avoid war, and I think I remember reading that Ukraine was willing to at least talk.

But the USA and UK reportedly discouraged the Ukrainians from negotiating.

Anyone in power who has family members and friends profiting from war should be ashamed, in my view.

You remembered right:

That horse has left the barn, but it's still in Ukraine's best interest to get back to the negotiating table as soon as possible.

Geo-politics. Controlling the majority of the world's largest grain producing region outside the U.S. creates lots of influence and bargaining power, for one, and for two, wars and petty invasions by thug states generate instability and eventually become big problems when allowed to continue unchecked. Just because it doesn't effect one personally is of no concern. In this case, it's obvious a Russian victory will lead to a regional collapse, as Russia is too corrupt and stupid to take advantage of a victory; the Crimea is now at 30% of its former population and GDP, and is a liability, not an asset any longer. Putin's idiot strategy has only increased the influence of NATO, and generating new members and countries who want membership, thanks to the moron's nuclear threats. The latter alone is enough cause to merit wiping his dumb ass out.

Some on the Right are just going to have to grow up and face the fact that isolationism has never worked, and never will. Nobody is going to leave us alone, and it's better to quash these vermin overseas than on our own lands. It's also time to shut down these foreign crime syndicate proxies the vermin operate on our soil as well, without lot of faggot weenies whining about how it gets done.
