What do you make of this? An unsuccessful attempt, but ....
Makes me wonder about other well timed accusations.]

My instinct is to instantly dislike it.... because of the reason stated in the article.... it could damage credible claims and taint them all with speculation about money-grubbing rather than justice.

OTOH when going up against people with wealth and power, how is a regular person supposed to be heard?

"Mr. Cernovich and the far-right activist Charles C. Johnson had to back away from claims that they possessed a sexual harassment settlement that would bring down a leading Democratic senator when it became apparent that the document — which targeted the Senate Democratic leader, Chuck Schumer of New York — was a forgery, lifting passages verbatim from the Conyers complaint unearthed by Mr. Cernovich. Mr. Schumer referred the matter to the Capitol Hill police for a criminal investigation."

This comports pretty well with what I have generally observed. False accusations are being elevated, propagated, and given traction by dudes with partisan or personal motives....I mean, you actually see it frequently on this forum, recently there was a rightwinger who was posting scurrilous claims from that Neil Degrasse Tyson raped a woman.

I tell you what folks, internet political forums tend to attract a lot of people willing to knowingly lie and make false accusations....without the slightest remorse or shame....I believe the mental health sciences would find that be a hallmark sign of a subhuman sociopath!

But the article isn't about internet political forums. The woman in the article who gave $500K, Susie Thompkins Buell, lives a couple of blocks from me in SF. She's had the Clinton's and Obama's over to her home numerous times for big fundraisers. As stated she is one of Hillary's better friends.

This is real life stuff.

Good point, but of course the other side uses this argument as well.
Some Democrats have ascribed political motivation to sexual harassment claims against their politicians as well, including those that led to the resignation of Senator Al Franken of Minnesota. His defenders point out that Mr. Franken’s initial accuser, Leeann Tweeden, had appeared as a semiregular guest on the Fox News Channel show hosted by Sean Hannity, a confidant of Mr. Trump.

I'm not taking sides here or trying to make it partisan. I'm just saying this isn't an internet forum thing, it's a real life thing.

Both sides make arguments to fit their pov. You are right, the truth is at the heart of the matter, and it seems that partisan politics stands in the way of finding just that.

I was responding to Cypress claiming this is some type of online forum thing. I wrote about Susie Thompkins Buell because I've met her (briefly), she's my neighbor and she's prominently featured in the article.

already been done to Clinton

the women who accused him of unconsentual contact all turned out to have major problems with the truth.

the donnald was a well known womanizer

paying to find the people who he mistreated is typical research done by political opposition research.

the republicans paid people who would lie aabout clinton

they knew a consentual affair would not be enough

The partisan efforts have already sparked some backlash. Mr. Cernovich. Do you think selling your integrity for votes is the way to go? I don't think it's cool whoever does it. It seems that the two major parties have us where they want us, voting for the lesser of two evils, a race to the bottom if you will. One side does something outrageous and the other side uses it as an excuse to do the same, or worse, just to lower the bar one more notch. Despicable.
