Paul Manafort hit with 16-count indictment from NY just moments after his sentence

But wouldn't that be "double jeopardy"? Or are the charges for different crimes?

Poor old faithful Manafort. He's not going to be feeling sunshine for a long, long time. Too bad. Not.

Paul J. Manafort, President Trump's former campaign chairman, has been charged in New York with mortgage fraud and more than a dozen other state felonies, the Manhattan district attorney, Cyrus R. Vance, Jr., said Wednesday, an effort to ensure he will still face prison time if Mr. Trump pardons him for his federal crimes.

News of the indictment came shortly after Mr. Manafort was sentenced to his second federal prison term in two weeks; he now faces a combined sentence of more than seven years for tax and bank fraud and conspiracy in two related cases brought by the special counsel, Robert S. Mueller III.

The president has broad power to issue pardons for federal crimes, but has no such authority in state cases. While Mr. Trump has not said he intends to pardon his former campaign chairman, he has often spoken of his power to pardon and has defended Mr. Manafort on a number of occasions, calling him a "brave man."

The new state charges against Mr. Manafort are contained in a 16-count indictment that alleges a yearlong scheme in which he falsified business records to obtain millions of dollars in loans, Mr. Vance said in a news release after the federal sentencing.

Note that these are STATE charges separate from what has just concluded with the sentencing for the federal charges. ;) Don't worry, his Boot Licker's will provide for him.

Yes to double jeopardy. From what I understand, it was in his interest to plead guilty (though charges were never lodged back then) to as much as possible in case a situation arose like this one. Likely these will go nowhere. But, I'm sure the fake media is orgasmic over this without understanding.

I rest well,

but if I was a liberal suffering from TDS, I'd be ashamed at finding glee in a man being persecuted, locked away from his wife because of his affiliation with someone I simply dint's like.

God has a place for people like that, let he who is without sin cast the first stone

There was a law proposed though maybe a year ago (?) in NY to change this type of scenario. I don't know if it ever got changed.

If he did not commit the crimes, he has nothing to worry about.

In the 16-count indictment, Manafort faces raps for residential mortgage fraud, attempted residential mortgage fraud, conspiracy, falsifying business records and scheme to defraud.

So what does this have to do with Trump and Russia ?

I never said it did, but off the top of my head, it simply shows the type of person he chose to run his campaign. Poor Judgement.
