LONDON — For some, the economic philosophy of capitalism is synonymous with America.

But the concept is in urgent need of being improved and has not served the U.S. economy as well as it could have, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) told an audience in London on Friday.

“In America, capitalism is our system, it is our economic system, but it has not served our economy as well as it should,” she told guests attending an event at the international affairs think tank Chatham House. “So what we want to do is not depart from that, but to improve it and to make sure that it serves us.”

“You cannot have a system where the success of some springs from the exploitation of the workers and springs from the exploitation of the environment and the rest, and we have to correct that,” she said.

It sure as hell has served the Pelosis...

How Politicians Make Millions Off Our Corrupt Political System

Big Tech and Big Pharma give campaign money to politicians who in turn receive non-public information about the corporations which they use to enrich their personal stock portfolios. The lawmakers then have influence over legislation that affects the companies in which they’re personally invested.

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi’s wealth has increased from $41 million to nearly $115 million since 2004.

In the last two years, nearly 75% of Pelosi’s stock trades have involved Big Tech stocks, totaling over $33 million in trading.

The trading has occurred as major legislation was proposed, controlled by the Committees Pelosi oversees, that could reshape the future of the industry.

Pelosi’s five most-traded stocks in the last two years — Apple, Microsoft, Facebook, Amazon and Google — were those that stood to be most affected by pending legislation.

Pelosi said another glimmer of hope may be turning to a greener economy, with “environmental justice” leading to job creation in United States. Pelosi also championed the need for “new, fresh ideas” to make capitalism “work better for everyone, because we really do have to improve that, we cannot have an exploitation of our workforce.”

“You cannot have a system where the success of some springs from the exploitation of the workers and springs from the exploitation of the environment and the rest, and we have to correct that,” she said.

Does this apply to American Samoa ???

OMG

What you cannot have and be successful as an economy is one where those who do are regulated and taxed such that they have no incentive to actually move forward on anything. Success doesn't spring from government, nor does it accumulate from welfare. I hold up Greece and Spain as current examples.

If other nations in the EU weren't propping those two nations up, they'd have gone under long ago. All of Hispanic America, from Mexico to Argentina, has long embraced heavy-handed socialist programs. They have remained economic basket cases as a result.

The Marxist concepts of worker and environmental exploitation are so 19th Century. The West, as a hole, has proved Marx wrong--dead, flat, wrong.

Sure Capitalism needs regulation, but too much and you kill the goose that lays the golden egg. The same with taxation. You can't build people up with handouts either.

Marx was right that workers get exploited. Seems obvious.
