Pentagon officials are holding informal discussions about how the Department of Defense would respond if Donald Trump issues orders to deploy active-duty troops domestically and fire large swaths of apolitical staffers, defense officials told CNN.

Trump has suggested he would be open to using active-duty forces for domestic law enforcement and mass deportations and has indicated he wants to stack the federal government with loyalists and “clean out corrupt actors” in the US national security establishment.

Trump in his last term had a fraught relationship with much of his senior military leadership, including now-retired Gen. Mark Milley who took steps to limit Trump’s ability to use nuclear weapons while he was chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The president-elect, meanwhile, has repeatedly called US military generals “woke,” “weak” and “ineffective.

lol, as if the first thing he would do wouldn't be to replace everyone who attended these discussions.
 
I read a long time ago Trump said he was going to fire any of the top Generals and Admirals that would not sign a loyalty oath to him and install ones that will, so he could get them to do what he tells them to legal or not.
Trump IS a want to be DICTATOR , and I hope these Generals and Admirals DO stand up to him and support the CONSTITUTION and NOT let him STOMP all over it.

In my opinion it is, but regardless of whether it's a good thing it is an objective fact that there is nothing unelected paper pushers can do to prevent Trump from doing anything. Legally speaking. Of course they can destroy evidence and wreck shit but that wasn't the context.

There is nothing they can do that Trump can't countermand instantly and if they believed otherwise they're too stupid to be in a position of power which would be another good reason to remove them at once.
