Pentagon told Bush in 2004: climate change will destroy us

The timing is off - but it's hardly wrong.

The last 15+ years have seen dramatic changes to habitat, our air & water, the oceans, loss of species, et al. We're in an emergency situation.

We are not even close Bartender. Seriously, I beg of you. Go outside. See for yourself. You are one of the rational lefties left in this world. See it first hand.

Why will people like you never identify the real culprit? Loss of species is almost entirely due to loss of habitat brought about by population increase. As for the atmosphere, that and water has been massively cleaned up, in Europe and North America at least. Did you know that eight out of 10 most polluting rivers are in India and China and the other two are in Africa?

So when will you call for population control, why are Catholics and Muslims breeding like rabbits yet you say nothing?

From the 2:50 point of this video is exactly what I think about climate change (though the whole video is great, IMO):

I agree! Population is out of control. We can't sustain the kind of population growth we've had over the past few centuries, and I fully agree that it is a huge contributor to loss of habitat.

I have to disagree on air & water - but I would definitely agree that anything America & Europe does is meaningless w/out China & India showing the same commitment.

Our oceans are in trouble. Plastics, acidification, oil, general pollutants. We just need to find better, more sustainable ways of doing things.

So go hell for leather and build new nuclear, the Chinese want to spend over $440 billion in the next fifteen years.

Take cars for example, the emissions from a new car are only 1-2% of those in the 60s, fact. Water is a similar story.

The U.S. vehicle pollution control under the Clean Air Act is a major success story by many measures:

New passenger vehicles are 98-99% cleaner for most tailpipe pollutants compared to the 1960s.
Fuels are much cleaner—lead has been eliminated, and sulfur levels are more than 90% lower than they were prior to regulation.
U.S. cities have much improved air quality, despite ever increasing population and increasing vehicle miles traveled.
Standards have sparked technology innovation from industry.
Reducing pollution from transportation sources has led to healthier air for Americans. In cities, smog has been visibly reduced. Just compare the images of New York City below.

The prophets of Gorebal Warming have been telling us since the 1970's that the world's going to end in ten years (or less) repeatedly right up to today. How many times are we supposed to believe their dire predictions when none of the bullshit they spew has come true?

.
This is something else the BBC wouldn't make now.

LOVED Blackadder Series.

#1 - not so much. I just did not find it that funny.
#2 - hilarious!
First scene of first episode - father says to his daughter: 'Yes Kate. I want you to become a prostitute.'
I howled at that.
From that moment on - I knew the series surely would be fantastic!!!

(can you imagine making a series now where the father says that to his daughter?!?)

#3 - I think it was the funniest of the bunch. (Blackadder to Mrs. Miggins after she has just told him of her secret love for him and is crying that he is leaving town. 'Mrs. Miggins? If we were the last three human beings on Earth? I would be trying to start a family with Baldrick'. Maybe my funniest line of the whole thing).

#4 - not as funny as 2,3...but it was a slightly nicer. Edmund as almost likeable.
But the ending of #4?
I was COMPLETELY unprepared for it and was SOOO blown away by it.

By the way?
Me not living in England...I had to wait until the series worked it's way over to us. Usually, it was on at odd times on odd days. So I did not see the series until years after it first aired.

I have never been to the UK.
But despite that, of the 27 TV series I purchased for iTunes?
Eight are British - Red Dwarf, Blackadder, Monty Python's Flying Circus, The IT Crowd, Yes Minister, Yes Prime Minister, Wheeler Dealers and Bottom.

they've changed it to generic " climate change."
maybe warming gonna kills or maybe we freeze another eon from now.Just obey and dont question any of it

Gorebal Warming is my derisive name of this nonsense. It derives from Al Gore, High Priest of the Church of Gorebal Warming and all of his faithful followers. Like many things on the Left, they have to keep changing the name because the current term becomes a pejorative. Liberal to Progressive is another example. Calling someone a "liberal" is to most people an insult. The Left caused that to happen. Thus, their shift to "progressive" to avoid being insulted. Progressive will become an insult at some point just as liberal has, and the Left will cast about and find another label for themselves usurping yet another word in their never-ending battle to keep themselves relevant.
