The twister was reported in Rocky Mount in Nash County, about 50 miles northeast of Raleigh, just after 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, the county government tweeted.

The roof of the Pfizer building in Rocky Mount was ripped off in the severe winds, but there were no reports of serious injuries, the company said in a statement.

The Pfizer plant stores large quantities of medicine that were tossed about, said Nash County Sheriff Keith Stone, adding, "I’ve got reports of 50,000 pallets of medicine that are strewn across the facility and damaged through the rain and the wind."

The plant produces anesthesia and other drugs as well as nearly 25 percent of all sterile injectable medications used in U.S. hospitals, Pfizer said on its website.

Drug shortages have been getting worse in recent years.....this could be a huge problem.

Well actually just part of the plant was destroyed...I got mislead by low quality Regime Media....but still this could be bad.

The tornado that ripped through a major Pfizer pharmaceutical plant in North Carolina on Wednesday "almost completely destroyed" the plant’s warehouse, which stored raw materials, packaging supplies and finished medications awaiting release to hospitals across the United States, Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla said during a press conference on Friday.

The company is working with the Food and Drug Administration, which on Friday said it was still trying to gauge the impact the natural disaster could have on the nation’s drug supply. The plant, based in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, made about 150 medicines, many of which are used by hospitals, including fentanyl and morphine for pain management, and anesthetics for surgery. Half of the drugs made at the facility are on the FDA’s essential medicines list, according to the United States Pharmacopeia, a group that tracks drug supply chains.

Even though this was only a small section of the plant this still might be catastrophic. Ya, they should have paid for a better quality building.

My wife had a CT scan delayed three months because of lack of die....they did not have enough for everyone and she was not high enough priority.

It should be noted that a lot of the ingredients used in America made drugs come from China and India, it may not be a simple matter to replace what was destroyed here.

The package could be a problem as well....it does not matter if they can make the drugs if they cant package them....getting packaging for all sorts of products has become a problem in recent years.

As I understand it the CT die situation was that the one factory in the world that makes it is in China, and that it shut down for over a month because of COVID, and that caused supply problems for something like a year.

Based upon what? I have not talked about it here but Madigan pharmacy has not been able to fill my prescriptions multiple times.

I wasn't referencing their medicinal drugs.
I was referencing their recreational ones.
Their posts don't suggest a shortage of those.

Most active ingredients for drugs are domestic in origin.
