In tournaments, the ultimate objective is to get all the chips, in ring games, it is to maximize profits. Many, many poker players do not understand the difference.
Lets break it down to the ridiculous. If two players were to sit down and agree to a game that would conclude in 1 hour under the conditions that whoever had the most chips at the end of the hour would take all the money, it would differ from a game in which the money would be split according to their chips.
Relativity applies here. Cost per round, payout structure, and antes make a huge difference. Dig it Grind?
