Power of impeachment rendered meaningless

As the prosecution so eloquently stated, if inciting and condoning an insurrection against our republic is not considered to be a high crime and misdemeanor - nothing is.

The GOP has made their choice. It's a bed they'll have to lie in for many years.

We're down to one viable American political party.

GOP are enemies of the US Constitution.

Look at this way, which Party controls The House, The Senate, and the Whitehouse.

The GOP will be busy eating each other for the next year or more and the Dems can look forward to running the show for at least the next Decade. Do a good job unless you want a trump II to come along.

Trump didn’t incite it and he didn’t condone it.

That’s speculation which goes beyond the evidence and that’s been the problem all along. If that evidence exists where is the criminal indictment?

This makes the second impeachment House Democrats embarked on knowing they didn’t have the votes in the Senate. And no, it’s not because of cowardly republicans. There are enough Senate republicans that would be happy to be rid of Trump BUT they aren’t going to take a politically risky vote without compelling evidence.

They know the evidence in both proceedings was thin and they didn’t want to go back and try and defend their vote in front of constituents that knew it was thin, as well. That’s not the way to get re-elected.

Democrats may have inflicted political damage on a Trump with these misguided impeachments but they have damaged themselves in the process.

They now own an 0-2 conviction record—against the same president.

That’s historical but it’s not good history.

Exactly, the word impeachment and the act of impeachment mean nothing, and also, questionable if nearly anything a President does can be challenged, we saw Trump use the power of the Judicial Dept to defend him, establish the Imperial Presidency as precedent, consequently, the Legislative and Judicial branches are handcuffed

Bottom line, the GOP employed a bizarre Constitutional theory to justify their vote to please Trump out of fear of being stuck on a primary, forget the feathering, McConnell just about confirmed the fact

Projection lol.

Democrats cheapened the impeachment process with their slip shod proceedings. What’s to stop a House republican majority from impeaching a Democrat President along strict party lines and/or knowing the votes for conviction don’t exist in the Senate?

Thanks to Democrats, nothing.

What’s to stop a Republican House from impeaching Obama for—whatever? Nothing, now that Democrats established the precedent.

You’re projecting.

He definitely incited, and he definitely condoned.

You didn't watch any of it, so how would you know?

"We love you!" he said to rioters. It's on video.

EXCEPT THAT PRES.TRUMP SAID TO "PROTEST PEACEFULLY", UNLIKE MULTIPLE DEMTHUGS ,INCLUDING THE CURRETN VP, WHO EXHORTED VIOLENCE ALL THROUGH THE MONTHS-LONG, NATIONWIDE DEMTHUG INSURRECTION LAST YEAR.

GOP are enemies of the US Constitution.

HIALRIOUS COMING FROM THE PEOPLE WHO HAD TO GET AWAY WITH VIOLATING ARTICLE II, ADND ACCEPT HELP FROM OUR ENEMIES IN RED CHINA TO WIN AN ELECTION, AND THEN LAUNCHED AN UTTERLY UNCONSTITUTIONAL IMPEACHMENT OF A PERSON NO LONGER IN OFFICE.

Democrats tried to charge Trump with inciting a riot that did him absolutely no good whatsoever. In fact, it totally subverted his goal for that day. What was his motive for inciting it?

Incitement requires a smoking gun and democrats couldn’t even find the gun. If they really thought a spliced-up video was going to stand as ‘evidence’ in even a Senate trial they are loony. I actually don’t think they are loony. I don’t think this was ever about getting a conviction.

It was political theater intended to inflict as much political damage on Trump and the populist nationalist movement as possible.

With that, they had some success. The rest was kabuki theater.
