Jesus F'n Christ! Reagan inherited a disaster too. Oh granted Carter wasn't anywhere's close to being as incompetent as Bush but that aint saying a hell of a lot.Look at the numbers, under Reagan's first year more jobs were lost and the recession took a longer recovery than under President Obama's first year.
He's been right one hell of a lot more then you have. But like Jarod's post. That may not be saying much.
You funny!
I tend to agree with you but he didn't walk into the crisis that Obama did. Had that crisis been ignored, until the whole shit ball collapsed, then things right now could be a lot worse.I think Reagan's inherited a worse economy
I think Reagan's inherited a worse economy
someone explain to me how obama inherited anything as he was a US senator for four years....
i can understand if he wasn't in politics or was a state senator, but he was a US senator, how can it be said he inherited anything regarding the economy?
Are you kidding?
He was one of 100 (and in the minority for most of that time), as president he is one of 1.
The president has much more power and responsability than any individual senator. Gawd, I feel like I am teaching 8th grade civics on this board sometimes!
Were you around in 1981? I was. It was worse then. Unemployment is high but inflation is nothing like what it was in 1981.Are you kidding?
That was Nixon. Not Carter. The period of double digit unemployment and double digit inflation began at the beginning of Nixon's second term which carried over into Carters term. Carter backed some real unpopular decisions which ultimately brought the "stagflation" under control vis-a-vis Paul Volkler and he paid a dear political price for doing so. So be fair and be honest and put the blame for that period where it belongs. With Nixon.not at all, this last one was very contained to housing and used car saleman posing as bankers.
Carter gave us double digit inflation and unemployment.
What was inflation last year?
