Putin Dissolves Government

Is Putin planning to invade small countries on discredited pretense and mass-murder their citizens for profit?

Wake me up when that happens.

Figures...........

it was not a matter of if just when this would happen...ole' Putin misses his days of old in the KGB...'Return to Sender' a old Elvis song is appropriate about now!

You're confusing people, AHZ. In semi-parliamentary nations like Russia, a "government" is merely the current party of the prime minister holding power. Telling this to a bunch of Americans, however, it would seem like he's actually replacing the current FORM of government with his own dictatorship.

Guys, in parliamentary and semi-parliamentary nations, a "government" is equivalent to the "administration". Also, in semi-parliamentary nations, the president can usually dissolve the government at any time he wishes and place up a new one. This is what happened in Russia. The president changed the prime minister. The new Prime minister of Russia, actually, is still of the same party, and likely to continue all of the previous policies.

Russia also tested (read demonstrated) a powerful vacuum bomb today; apparently as a sabre-rattling/chest beating exercise. They claim that it's as powerful as a nuclear bomb but doesn't have its environmental consequences. Why would they develop such a weapon, hmmm???

It's still a massive power grab.

``We all need to think about how to build up the structure of power and governance so they are better suited to the pre- election period,'' Putin said, accepting Prime Minister Mikhail Fradkov's resignation in televised remarks at the Kremlin today. He nominated Viktor Zubkov as prime minister, who currently heads Russia's money-laundering watchdog.

This quote is chilling.
