question for those that want Craig to step down

Abreast of the situations
I know that the feeling is that he was part of the anti gay coalition so by getting caught he it more guilty and its more relevant that he should step down.

So what would you say if someone like Edwards who runs on family values and how much he loves his wife gets caught in an affair? Would you have the same opinion?
 
I knew this thread was going to be some sort of twisted clarion call for double standards.

Personally, I hope Craig sticks it out as long as he can.

I have never, not once, said I want Craig to step down.

I want him to stay in the Senate, and run for re-election. To be honest, I've never even heard any liberal say Craig should resign (although, there may be a few). Its republicans that want craig to resign.

The liberals salivate over the fact that the longer he stays the better chance they have of gaining his seat.

Its true, I'd be laughing over a senate race in Idaho where "wide stance" Craig had to ask family-values voters in Idaho to send him back to the senate.

But, I don't recall EVER in my life demanding that a politician step down for any sexual improprieties, as long as they were legal and consensual.
 
I don't know of any liberal on this board who called for him to step down. I think he should stick it out and fight the charges.

I wasn't arguing that. The idea that his staying shows the hypocrisy of the religious right who promote an anti-gay agenda might gain them seats really is something that the left salivates over.

Yes, it is the right that wants him to step down because they too see the danger for them in the next election.

I haven't called for him to "step down" either. Seriously, the strongest objectors to his presense object because they think it will hurt the party in the next election... I don't think most of them even care about the actual 'values' thing.

It's sad to say, but I am pragmatic enough to realize this.

What on earth made you think Liberals were demanding Wide Stance resign? Something you read on Drudge? ;)

I think its a wastfull distraction for public figures. whats worse Clinton banging monica for 20minutes or Clinton and his staff spending hundreds of hours dealing with the media.

same goes for Craig.

Umm the ones who screamed the loudest were Craigs own party.
The rest of us have just been enjoying the show.
Of course this whole affair has shown Craig to be not too bright.
 
Remember when he said he was going to step down...

All the Republicans got all self richous and said... See at least our guys quit when they have done something wrong.
