This thread is serious if anyone is fucking around you are insta retro'd

so last week my vision was normal. Now I am nearsighted.. all of a sudden. Like I can't read digitial clocks from.. 10 feet away.. super blurry. Both my parents have vision problems (nearsighted) and both my brothers wear glasses too.

My question is.. for those that have gotten glasses and such... when did you realize you had problems seeing? Did it come on all of a sudden? Casue for me last week I thought I was fine, and now I am not. However I am also thinking maybe it WAS gradual and I only just realized it until now.. there has to be a first day for everyone.

If it happened that quick you need to go to the doctor first, like now. No, visual changes should not be sudden.

Vision problems can indicate diabetes are you thirsty and drink water a lot? In any case you need to see a doctor instead of posting on the internet.

True, if it is diabetes you'll drink and pee a lot more often than normal and your vision will be noticeably affected, but once back under control, your vision slowly returns to normal. Another thing, diabetes can cause foot pain. If there's any sign of an open wound on the feet, it can lead to very serious problems. Good luck, and I'd get checked to be safe.

OK everyone slow down with the diabetes talk

Yes diabetes can do all of those things, but they are usually pretty late stage sequelae.

While I don’t know Grinds medical history, even if he had Type II diabetes, it would be highly unlikely that at his age he would have those issues that are described in these posts.

yeah this thread is not helping my hypochondria

im probably going to try to see an eye doctor tomorrow.. if they are around memorial day.

i can't tell if this is an all of a sudden thing, or perhaps it was gradual and i only started noticing recently. part of me is like... everyone has to have a first day where they start to notice.

but yeah I went from perfect vision to now not being able to see the score of the game real clearly when I am watching tv. stuff like that. fucking sucks.

This happened to my 75-year-old brother last year. He called me from TX in a panic because suddenly he couldn't see. Turns out he had a minior stroke affecting the vision-processing part of the brain.

Don't fuck around. Get medical help. JPP is not medical help. Please be well. Sudden visual disturbances are a very serious sign of bad shit.'

So far we have the following:

Diabetes
Stroke

It could also be syphilis. Grind did you fuck any Asian whore 10 years ago?

It could also be lead poisoning. Grind have you been eating paint chips from a 100 year old house?

It could be AIDS. Grind are you a heroin addict or a homosexual?

It could be Lyme Disease. Grind have you been bitten by a deer tick?

It could be pregnancy. Grind are you knocked up?

Could be astigmatism from watching too much porn...I mean dedicating all your time to make sure JPP is a top notch experience for all user....okay I really meant porn. Sounds like eye strain. To answer your question as for my glasses, I was having blurry vision in one eye often enough that I got it checked. She gave me way too strong of lenses that made me puke after 10 seconds for the first year. I am far sighted--like real far-sighted. She said I had the best distance vision she had ever seen. I just can't read the fine print on OTC pill bottles.

Actually the internet is not a bad place to get advice if you can sort out the trolls and mean sadistic bastards.

Good luck and may the best happen.

I think the first time I noticed vision impairment was at the end of my 8th grade year (June 2000), when we watched October Sky in my math class. At the end of the film, I couldn't read the script when the fate of each of the characters is explained (like Homer's parents divorced, mom moved to Myrtle Beach, and dad died of black lung). At the time, I figured it was just because I was sitting in the back of the classroom and the text was simply too small.

I don't recall having any other issues over the summer, and then, in August, I attended a sports physical at the nearby Shoreline Center, so that I could play sports in the fall at high school. I failed the vision test, and, eventually, had to go to Lenscrafters to get my first prescription. I was diagnosed as 20/60, and prescribed distance-only lenses that I could pull out to read overheads, white/chalk boards, and, eventually, for driving. This continued on for seven years, until in December of 2007, I attended one of the last history classes of the semester, sat down in the same chair that I always did, and realized I could no longer read the professor's slides.

I went from the eyes of an eagle to a person with limited vision from a minor stroke. You should already have seen a doctor AND SHOULD NOT PUT IT OFF TO TOMORROW OR TO LATER TODAY.

It may turn out to be nothing serious...but it could be something that needs more immediate attention.

Go to an emergency room if you have to.

Type II diabetes isn't the "end of the world." And those symptoms do exist when sugar count becomes excessively high, age has nothing to do with it. If it is the problem, a Dr. will assess the severity and prescribe a medication, and with some moderate changes in diet, it can be easily brought under control. Once using a medication that will stabilize it and occasional monitoring, you can still eat many things you've previously eaten (in reasonable amounts, in other words you can't eat a 1lb. bag of Twizzlers in one sitting!) without trouble. Also, the Dr. will probably request a yearly eye exam.
That said, I don't think anyone here is trying to scare you, just trying to make you aware of the possibilities. Again, good luck and Happy Memorial Day.

so these discoveries would just be like... one day you can read the slide, then the next... "shit... can't read it anymore"?

That was how it worked for me. Granted, it was at least two days between classes. The incidents with the movie and the slides are the only two that I am aware of where I distinctly noticed the decline of vision. Obviously, the case with the slides, I knew exactly what was wrong, and was like, "damn, I can't read Dr. Langill's slides today. Looks like I'll be returning to Lenscrafters over Christmas Break."

whatever else you need to realize is that typical vision change is NOT sudden, it happens over years, not weeks........3D was just oblivious......

I didn’t say that those things were not symptoms of type II diabetes. I said you guys are getting ahead of yourselves with these online conversations.

First off Grind only asked specifically about his suddenly noticing visual changes. I agree that it could be indicative of something serious, but it is more likely that he vision has deteriorated to a point where he has finally noticed. It only “seems” sudden. Given his young age, relative good health that would be the first thing to check.

Absent any other symptoms a trip to the ER as one suggested is unwarranted

Grind should head to an optometrist ASAP.

While it could be indicative of something more serious, my money is on near sightedness that has just finally gotten noticed.

Outside of that, my money is on Syphilis over diabetes as Grind has a thing for Asian whores
