R v. W - VERY POPULAR!

Does Jarod believe that the SCOTUS, carefully structured to keep them from this kind of political pressure, should make decisions based on popularity polling?

whats right is not always popular, what's popular is not always right

I agree, but doing what he think is the right thing in the face of unpopularity is often fatal to a politician. And Culture warriors are now known for principled stands.

This is a case of dog catches car.

Most Republicans representatives do not give a shit about abortion and wanted to use the issue as a wedge and are very distressed that they somehow accidently won.

It appears so, however, it just doesn't work like that.

SC justices are not politicians.

no, (if you have ever read any of my posts after an election you would know that) but I think the political reality will be the same regardless.

None of those peoples' votes count worth a tinker's damn in this situation.

Roe v. Wade is contrary to the 10th amendment.

It's going down.

Do you not believe we have a constitutional right to privacy from government interference in our personal lives? Its not just abortion, read the opinion.

Outside of possibly a few reactionary Catholic countries, there is not a civilized, democratic nation on the planet that criminalizes abortion.

The fact that reproductive freedom is almost universal in civilized countries throughout the world is good evidence you and your court are behaving like religious fundamentalists, not deliberative jurists.

Few democracies criminalize abortion for long.

You inferred from a poll something that was a stupid inference and got called out on it.

That's it bitch; Let's get this show on the road!

I don't see anything challenging The Patriot Act..yet.

Not very relevant. Patriot Act is a mess of various issues and is not a direct liberty issue for most people.

And I suspect its not a unpopular as overturning R. v W.
