Rasmussen: Gingrich soars ahead of Mittens by 21%

So are you ditching Mandingo and declaring your love for the biggest hypocrite in the race. And I'm not referring to the fact that he's obese.

In a national poll released today, Rasmussen is showing Newt Gingrich ahead of Mitt Romney by an astonishing 21%

Newt 38%
Mittens 17%

Others in single digits.

Newt's 38% is the largest national lead obtained to date by any of the GOP candidates.

Poor Mittens. He's going to have a hell of a time beating Newt without the crazies being divided up. The Cain and Perry implosions really screwed him. Of course, there's still plenty of time for a Newt implosion.

Just so we're clear, by the convention next summer, "Mittens" will be a conservative visionary & the heir apparent to Ronald Reagan...

I could not be more happy about the state of the Republican race right now. I hope Cain's wife will let him stay out and play with the big boys a little longer.

I still plan to vote for Cain if he hasn't pulled out of the race when Alabama holds its primary. If he has, I will vote for Newt. And here's the deal... I don't care if he is a hypocrite, obese, a fossil, a neocon, an adulterer, a sinner, or satan reincarnated, as long as he's not a SOCIALIST!

Well, I believe this poll says something different will happen, but your devout predictions are noted, and we'll see!

LOL, we can always count on Ras-SKEW-son to crunch the numbers. Other polls have a four-point spread at the most.

The two Republican frontrunners are not even considered Christians by most of the religious right, looks like there power and influence has demnished to almost nothing.

I'm a little concerned about Newt's rise though. IMO, within the R party it's the money men who pick the nominee. I figured they want Mitt for obvious reasons. (one being, he's electable). It seems that FOX has the hit out on Mitt? So that was a surprise. This makes me really suspicious that Wall st and the others who are really running this country have decided that they're going to stick it out with Obama.

I mean, it's hard to imagine a better water-carrier for their interests, and unlike Newt, he doesn't even look evil.

It would be really hard for me to vote next year.

What kind of idiotic statement is that? The "Religious Right" is comprised of all religious denominations, not just the strange offbeat few. I think you are out of touch with reality... no... I KNOW you are! But that's okay, Jughead, if you had a little more sense in your noodle, the world would be a really fucked up place. Looks like YOUR power and influence has diminished to almost nothing.

People hate Mittens. Like, really hate him. I don't really get it. On policy, Newt is just as wishy-washy, but Mitt at least presents as a man of moral integrity. Maybe it's the Mormon thing. It's weird.

I don't get it either. Newt is repulsive, I can't imagine how anyone can even look at him. I get that Mitt is a bit too smooth and somewhat slimey, like you know he might be about to shiv you while he's smiling, but how is Newt any better? Well, it's their business, I don't care who they nominate. I don't really feel Obama deserves a second term, but I don't want a Republican picking Supreme Court justices. And I think Newt would give Obama a better advantage than Romney would in the general, but what do I know? I'm a crazy lefty. It's really Dixie who has his hand on the pulse of America.

If there's one thing Dixie knows it's what Americans want. He's never been wrong.

Good! I encourage you to stay home and bake some brownies instead!

Let me tell you how it is, sweetheart... The money men don't pick the nominee, the voters do. Fox News has nothing to do with Rasmussen's polling, or Newt's sudden rocketing to the top. Wall Street doesn't get a vote in an election, it is a physical place in New York where stock is traded, not a person. With Obama's current approval rating tanking below Jimmy Carter's, I wouldn't be counting on 4 more years just yet.

Actually when I stay home it's usually to polish my guns...sweetheart.
