Business is booming in Arizona for the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office animal crimes unit, as police say they’ve nabbed a man who wanted to trade sex with his dog — named “Playmate” — for sex with a number of farm animals.

Undercover officers posed as a rancher from Wickenburg during the undercover sting with James Allen Darland, 56. Police say it’s the ninth time the unit has busted someone for attempted bestiality.

“The suspect requested to spend days on the farmer’s property solely for the purpose of having sex with the various animals provided including horses, dogs and goats,” police said in a statement.

According to police, Darland is a retired delivery driver and claimed he routinely had sex with the pets of unsuspecting homeowners while he was running his delivery routes.

Darland was arrested on Monday and booked on conspiracy to commit bestiality, a Class 6 felony.

His dog was seized.
