Reid's Healthcare Reform Bill

So nothing specific then. I ask for explanation, you give me weak talking points. There was a reason that my later post asked the question it did.

How does each of those things supposedly address the cost of health care today? Tell us why you are having an orgasm, don't just scream real loud.
Spare me the hyperbole. I'm just pointing out that ya'll have made up your minds about this bill before you've even taken an oppurtunity to study it.

The only unpalatable aspect of this Bill I see is that you don't get something for nothing. To pay for this there will almost certainly have to be a tax increase. If the tax increase not only pays for this plan with it's improvements in quality, access, cost control and standardization with say a 5 to 6% across the board tax increase but brings down down health care expenditures to a reasonable 8% of GNP that it will be by any measure a cost affective trade off with substantial improvements in our health care system.

So try reading the thing before you make up your mind. Quit being led around like sheep on a rope.

I am asking you to give me your opinion on how each of those things are improved by this bill and how it helps to curtail cost increases and you continue to give me the talking points with nothing substantial.

I ask for your analysis and so far all you have is how much I haven't studied the bill. Thanks, Professor, but quit being so sanctimonious.

It would be real nice if Congressmen would read before commenting, much less voting.

Well it would be nice if everyone did that. I see this as being very similar to the Hazardous and Solid Waste Act (HSWA) of 1984. It was of similar length, very comprehensive in scope.

It provided a standard for hazardous, industrial and municipal waste management where none had existed before. It provided comprehensive standards for treatment, storage and transportation of waste. It identified Best Available Demonstrated Technology standards for treatment. It standardized characterization, identification and administrative requirements for managing waste. It created land disposal restrictions with universal treatment standards for managing waste. It standardized financial responsibilities for the waste generators, transporters and treatment facilities.

Well in 1984 you heard the same arguments from conservatives which included a veto threat from the President. Many of the same arguments made then were made against health care reform. That this would cost the nation to much in lost business, industry costs, government spending, etc.

Well guess what? The critics were wrong. The HSWA act of 1984 was a very succesfull piece of legislation that created a whole new industry and substantially improved the quality of life in industrial regions of the nation.

So yea, let's read the bill before we start agreeing with the talking heads who haven't read it either.
