Canceled
The way she clinically takes apart this chancer is a joy to behold, I hope she goes far. Oh and she is half Thai as well.

Following in the footsteps of her father and ancestors, who served in the Revolutionary War, World War II, and the Vietnam War,[SUP][4][/SUP] Duckworth joined the Army Reserve Officers' Training Corps as a graduate student at George Washington University in 1990. She became a commissioned officer in the United States Army Reserve in 1992 and chose to fly helicopters because it was one of the few combat jobs open to women. As a member of the Army Reserve, she went to flight school and joined the Illinois Army National Guard in 1996.[SUP][7][/SUP]
Duckworth was working towards a PhD in political science at Northern Illinois University with research interests in the political economy and public health in southeast Asia when she was deployed to Iraq in 2004.[SUP][8][/SUP] Duckworth lost her right leg near the hip and her left leg below the knee[SUP][9][/SUP] from injuries sustained on November 12, 2004, when the UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter she was co-piloting was hit by a rocket propelled grenade fired by Iraqi insurgents.[SUP][10][/SUP] She is the first female double amputee from the Iraq war.[SUP][1][/SUP] The explosion "almost completely destroyed her right arm, breaking it in three places and tearing tissue from the back side of it."[SUP][11][/SUP] Duckworth received a Purple Heart on December 3 and was promoted to Major on December 21 at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center, where she was presented with an Air Medal and Army Commendation Medal.[SUP][10][/SUP]

a 30% rating for an injury sustained playing football. Not for something that happened on active duty. Have you every seen the footage of the guy that ran against Duckworth? He criticized her for talking about her service in the WAR! Republicans still voted for him.

If you have the injury when you sign the contract, you still qualify. If you get it AFTERWARDS though, you're shit outta luck. The reasoning is that your prior injury will be enhanced by the rigors of military life.

She was pissed off with him because he was passing off an injury he sustained in high school as an active service injury. The dozy twat didn't seem to realise that she lost both her legs in Iraq whilst flying a helicopter which was shot down by insurgents. She took particular exception to Castillo implying in a letter to the Small Business Administration that his disability was the result of active-duty military service as she chastised him for using his service-disabled veteran status to gain an advantage when competing for federal contracts.

Incorrect. The injury would have kept him from serving. If it occurred while in the military but while he was off duty, then he could be awarded service connected because when you're in the service, it's a 24 hour thing. You should know that.

Even though Duckworth lost her legs it doesn't mean she can't work. That's why the 30% rating.

Apparently he's working pretty damn well with his supposed "30%" injury. Read the article; his company is doing very well with him pulling the "disabled in military service" card. Tammy Duckworth was rated at 20%, by the way.

I have no major problems with disabled veterans getting special treatment in contracts and whatnot; if someone is wounded while in the service, they deserve our support, whether it's a training exercise or on the field of battle.

But this guy - hurt his ankle; not even broken; while in high school; playing football or orienteering... and he gets favorable treatment and is rated at 30% disabled when he is obviously able to run a successful company?

Tammy Duckworth is amazing; her opponent was scum. But if she is rated at 20% - given that she's able to run for office and what not -why would this guy be rated at 30%?

Percentages are weird, and don't necessarily mean one cannot work. I'm 40% 'disabled' and work just fine. But things like insomnia and PTSD and sterility all add to the percentage.

The misconception lies within civilians comparing military disability to social security disability. Social security disability means that one is 100% disabled and unable to work. VA disability is a rating system to determine the level of care the vet is allowed and can go anywhrre from 0-100%.

Now, for Tom. Why did you groan that post? Did I give out some erroneous information?

A real injury should be covered!
This guy never served, his injuries are bullshit.

Reminds me of the typist in the RAF getting a better disability payment from the MOD than the squaddie who lost both legs.

It's retarded.

Rep Duckworth, Keep up the good work.

I'd like to clarify my previous post. A preexisting injury severely aggravated during service could possibly gain a rating. However, it would need to be on the entry physical exam and it's difficult to prove the extent of aggravation.

This guy, and his IRS buddy, just milked the system and are schmucks.

It isn't his ability/inability to work. It's the preferential treatment his bids get due to his supposed disability.

The folks over at RedState are none too happy with Ms. Duckworth:

The fact that Duckworth was more unlucky than Castillo and doesn’t like the fact that he doesn’t look sufficiently injured to gain her respect is irrelevant. I wonder how she would treat someone suffering from PTSD?

I’ve been stunned to see people I generally respect applauding a member of Congress for heaping invective upon a private citizen who is not given the opportunity to respond without creating legal difficulties for himself. It doesn’t take a large person to hector a defenseless witness for the benefit of the cameras. To the contrary, it takes a small, petty, and vindictive person to abuse their position of power.

Duckworth’s talent is completely defined by her combat injuries. She is a political hack of the worst sort. She has coasted from obscurity to a House seat by toeing the Democrat party line and milking her injuries for all they are worth. Her supporters, like those of the unlamented Max Cleland, paint her opponents as anti-veteran simply because she is a disabled veteran. She is the poster child for how to use a service connected disability to mask your underlying mediocrity while playing the victim when challenged on policy matters.

Tammy Duckworth: Political Hack, Professional Victim, Schoolyard Bully

Why am I not surprised, lol

Well, the government has always provided special treatment for disabled vets. They get preferential hiring among other things.

Correct, but typically that applies to those who served in combat. Duckworth's issue addresses the thousands who wait more than a year for disability benefits, while this poser is getting huge contracts due to a false disability claim.

It may be the agencies who award the contracts that are at fault, as opposed to the cowardly fraud who gladly accepts monies that he doesn't deserve.
