That is not my words, that's the words of the ethics committee report.

U.S. HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES COMMITTEE ON ETHICS
IN THE MATTER OF ALLEGATIONS RELATING TO REPRESENTATIVE MATT GAETZ

"Representative Gaetz took advantage of the economic vulnerability of young women to lure them into sexual activity for which they received an average of a few hundred dollars after each encounter. Such behavior is not “generosity to ex-girlfriends,” and it does not reflect creditably upon the House."

"There is substantial evidence that Representative Gaetz used cocaine, ecstasy, and marijuana. At least two women saw Representative Gaetz using cocaine and ecstasy at different events. Even more women understood him to regularly be using ecstasy. There is also ample evidence that Representative Gaetz purchased and used marijuana; he appears to have set up a pseudonymous e-mail account from his House office in the Capitol complex for the purpose of purchasing marijuana. "

Age of consent in FL is 18. If they have conclusive proof that he had sex with a 17 year old, they need to charge him. Now, the only question is, why haven't they?
The statute of limitations on felony statutory rape has probably expired

The victim's only recourse now is civil damages, which seems to be in the works.

The ethics panel received testimony that Mr Gaetz had sex in 2017 with a 17-year-old girl, described in the report as Victim A.

It said: "Victim A recalled receiving $400 in cash from Representative Gaetz that evening, which she understood to be payment for sex.

"Victim A said that she did not inform Representative Gaetz that she was under 18 at the time, nor did he ask her age."

The committee did not receive any evidence indicating Mr Gaetz was aware she was a minor when he had sex with her.

Mr Gaetz was investigated by the Justice Department for three years over sex trafficking allegations. No criminal charges were brought.

The ethics panel said there was not enough evidence that Mr Gaetz violated the federal sex trafficking statute.

All of the women who testified said the sexual encounters with Mr Gaetz were consensual.

Sometimes I feel like I was the only on JPP to look into the details of the Gaetz allegations.

That's how I learned his accuser is in prison for making the same false sex-with-minors accusation against someone else.

So my speculation that she lied about her age is right on.....

The DOJ apparently disagrees.
