South Carolina Lt. Gov. Kenneth Ard resigned today, hours before he was indicted on ethics charges.
Ard has pleaded guilty to guilty to four counts of unlawful reimbursement of campaign funds, two counts of failure to report on campaign documents and one count of using campaign funds for personal use.
He was sentenced to five years probation and 300 hours of community service, and fined $5,000.
A one-year jail term was suspended, conditioned on completing probation.
