Republicans claim that government spending does not create jobs. But whenever defense spending cuts are put on the table, they claim that it will destroy jobs. In the Rep worldview, military spending = good, all other spending (e.g. assistance for the poor) = bad.

So apparently government can create jobs after all. The catch is that the only jobs government can create happen to be with defense contractors.

Yeah, many don't object to government involvement in the economy they just want it used to advance their own interests, economic and cultural. Small government is just another dog whistle for those types. They will talk about how they would support immigration and legal marijuana if welfare were eliminated. But in reality they support welfare if immigrants, minorities and pot smoking hippies can be excluded.

You are correct. They are completely hypocritical. Unfortunately, the GOP has made the wrong arguments for far to long. Of course the gobblement can create "jobs". The question is can the gobblement create wealth and prosperity and except for their crony capitalists, the answer is NO.

But, I am sure glad the demalquedacrat party isn't hypocrites on any issue.
