Republican leader criticizes Obama for not defending NSA and losing our trust

He totally abdicates on his job of oversight and passes the buck to Obama. He is basically making the same argument that Desh makes, i.e., that the real problem is that we need a Dear Leader we can trust.

This is what the majority of the GOP believes and offers. Don't kid yoursleves into thinking they are even taking the right stand due to the polticis of Obama being in the White House. Amash gets kicked off committees and this ahole is made a chairmen. A mainstream GOP president with congressional Republicans would crush what liberties are left.

Top GOP lawmaker accuses Obama of not defending NSA surveillance program
By Tom Curry, National Affairs Writer, NBC News

Rep. Michael McCaul, R-Texas, chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, criticized proposals announced by President Barack Obama to bring more oversight to surveillance carried out by the National Security Agency.

On NBC’s Meet the Press Sunday, McCaul said that in the wake of leaks from former NSA contractor Edward Snowden, who has been given asylum by Russia, Obama was belatedly “trying to come up with ways to salvage the program by window dressing…. The problem fundamentally is he’s failed to explain these programs, which are lawful, which have saved lives, (and) which have stopped terrorist plots. He has not adequately explained them or defended them.”

But while assailing Obama for not doing enough to defend the NSA surveillance, McCaul also contended that the American people didn’t trust Obama and his administration to oversee that surveillance.

“On the heels of the IRS scandal, where people don’t trust this government, this administration with their tax records, they sure don’t trust the administration with their phone records. That’s the dilemma the president’s in right now”

where did I say what you claim?

You always claim we should not worry so much about the powers of government and should only focus on making sure we have trustworthy leaders. You even argue that anyone calling for limited government is somehow unfit for government, a traitor or some other nonsense.

This was supposed to be more for Billy and STY who expressed that Republicans were better on this issue but only due to the politics of having a Democrat in the WH. They are worse even with politics.

Its not my fault your Austrian ideas are failures

The Austrians have raged against the police/warfare/surveillance state louder than anyone. Rand Paul and Amash probably fall short of them on these issues.

not sure where you got the idea that I think republicans are better on the issue. I think they are both fucked up, corrupt, totalitarian dictator wannabes.
