Republican VP choices...

Any ideas?

I think that if Senator Clinton is the Democratic nominee the Republican would do well to get Christine Todd Whitman.

She is a former Governor who was fired by and had a public problem with the Bush Whitehouse. She would be a great choice, not to mention having a woman on the ticket might diffuse the issues surrounding the first major party female presidental canidate!

I much prefer that we try to find a Rep Presidential candidate before we go around worrying about the VP.

Yeah. Everybody, talking about VP candidates is now forbidden at JPP.com! This has been declared an OFFICIAL unimportant issue, and everybody who talks about it shall be put to death!

It has nothing to do with its importance or unimportance, it has to do with there is no set and clear candidate, choosing the VP is moot until we know who the candidate is.

Okay, but it is still interesting to talk about. Sure its not the primary issue, but I find it interesting and would like to see others opinions.

I wish Governor Whitman had run for the Republican nomination.

Why don't you just go and talk about irrelevant things like millions of kids being brainwashed by a dictator while you're at it?

Water, while I was certainly being a bit sarcastic, it really doesn't make sense to be looking for a VP until you have a clear idea who the Pres candidate will be. A VP should be someone that will complement the Pres, thus choosing one prior to knowing who the Pres candidate will be is moot.

That said, Jarod brings up an interesting point with Whitman. I honestly do not know enough about her particularly, but the strategy itself makes sense.

That would have been good, IMO. I wonder if she'd be garnering any support if she had...

She could still enter, shoot look at what Thompson did....

I know of a couple threads where discussion has been had about the VP presidental choices of the Democrats.

I have also seen where people have started suggesting McCain as a VP along with Gulianni.

Christie Whitman will never be on a national republican ticket.

Save yourselves the suspense, and take it to the bank, it's 100% guaranteed.

It is more clear who their Nominee will be.

I think she would have been a strong canidate. Liberal on social issues, very conservative re: spending. She came out early against the Bush administration early and it was pretty public that she was fired for not following lock stock and barrel the Cheney energy agenda!

Why? Does she have a skeleton in the closet? Or are you simply implying that Reps will never put a woman on the ticket because you think they are sexist?

I dont think she would do well in the south as she is a social liberal and a woman, but I think she would do fine in the North East, mid west and west!

I doubt it will be her. Is she even in the party anymore? She spent a lot of time bashing the GOP after she left BushCo.

And I don't think she's a NeoCon.

She is no NEO-CON. She is a conservative in the same fashon as Ronald Regan or Barry Goldwater. She has bashed the current Republican administration, but I belive at this point that would be a HUGE asset.

She is a direct decendent of Mary Todd Lincon, the first Republican first lady!
