Republicans vote against military veterans

Blindsided veterans erupted in anger and indignation Thursday after Senate Republicans suddenly tanked a widely supported bipartisan measure that would have expanded medical coverage for millions of combatants exposed to toxic burn pits during their service.

Supporters of the Sergeant First Class Heath Robinson Honoring Our Promise to Address Comprehensive Toxics Act — or PACT Act — overwhelmingly expected the House-passed bill to sail through to the president's desk for signature.

But in a move that shocked and confused veteran groups Wednesday night, 41 Senate Republicans blocked the bill's passage, including 25 who had supported it a month ago.

"We really expected yesterday to be a procedural vote that would go with easy passage," said Jeremy Butler, CEO of Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America, a nonprofit veterans’ organization. "That was the absolute expectation."

While it's unclear what prompted the flip, veterans believe the move was political.

"We’ve seen partisanship and games within Congress for years," Butler said. "But what is shocking is that so many senators would literally be willing to play with veterans’ lives so openly like this.

From what I've read, they voted it down because it allowed for the spending of a massive amount of money; some $400 billion, that would be totally unrelated to helping Veterans...

Of course you are spewing total BS. Almost 100% of these funds are going directly to veterans. In fact, a very similar bill was getting almost total Republican support just a few months ago.

Are you suggesting that I didn't read that?

Perhaps you see simple disagreement as some sort of attack on your delicate little psyche but, I assure you, I did read that.

But I have a question for you: You say that almost 100% of the funds are going directly to Veterans. Shouldn't it be that the full 100% is going to Veterans?

I have not read the bill nor have you, but one must wonder why Republican voted in force for it just a few months ago, but now refuse to support it. Could it be that their feelings were hurt when the Senator from VW backed a bill they were against. Sadly for the GOP its all politics and veterans be damned. You now wonder just how much damage this will do to Republican candidates come November.

Respectfully, you have no idea what I've read.

But let me give you a little hint: I'm a Veteran (retired Navy) and I take a very definite interest in all things Veteran related.

Now, I'll ask you again since you dodged it the last time: You say that almost 100% of the funds are going directly to Veterans. Shouldn't it be that the full 100% is going to Veterans?

Handjob, I know exactly what you have read- nothing!
Now tell us why Republicans backed the bill a few months ago, but now refuse to. Hint, its the same bill, hasn't changed.

The fact of the matter, dummy, is that I have read the bill. As I said, I take a keen interest in anything affecting our Veterans.

That you choose to remain ignorant and uneducated means nothing to me, other than the fact that I'm trying to have an intelligent conversation with someone who's incapable of that due to your profound lack of intelligence.

Why have you dodged my question twice? Normally that's indicative of a liberal coward. When a liberal coward knows he's been bested he asks questions instead of providing actual responses to the question he's been asked. You know, like you're doing.

You know you can't answer because, first, you know you're not smart enough and, second, because you know I'm right and that you're wrong.

Your defeat is noted. You may go...

All that I do know is that you are a compulsive liar, who hasn't been right about anything!

Since you are so well read, tell us why Republicans previously supported this bill, until just now? I asked you this question already, but you seem not to have an answer.

That's a rather ignorant statement.

I don't spend much time on this forum at all and, when I do, I rarely say anything controversial.

You call me a compulsive liar. Where is the lie? Point out just a single one.

You can't do it.

In this case, I told you that I read that the bill contained money not targeted towards Veterans. Why you think that's bullshit can only be attributed to your own monumental ignorance, because I most certainly have read that. Many people believe it contains money not destined for Veterans, and many Republicans used that belief to justify their vote against it. If you think there's nothing on that topic to read, well, then you're an idiot...

That's a lie they've been telling. The money was already in the bill that those Republicans voted yes for a month or two ago. The ONLY change since then was the removal of a small sentence relating to budget in order for it to legally be passable. And NOTHING in the bill (including the money in question) is for anything other than the veterans and the apparatuses necessary for distribution of the funds for said veterans

You're such a little clown.

You repeatedly refuse to answer the question I asked you, but you want to insist that I answer yours?

Sorry, pinhead, that's just not gonna' happen.

If you don't answer mine first (and we know you can't) then you can piss up a rope.

Answer mine and I'll answer yours...

You still haven't explained my dear, why Congressional Republicans who all favored the bill, now voted against it.

Handjob, its hard enough to read your BS even once, without your having to post the same answers twice.

I asked it first, sweetie.

Especially when the SOLE change to the bill since they last voted for it was the removal of language referring to budget (iirc), in order for it to meet constitutional requirements.
