In another example of how are political paradigm really isn't a "liberal/conservative" one as much as it is an "urban/rural" one. Republicans want to split the "SNAP" foodstamp program from farm subsidies. Why? Because in what can only be called one of the most immoral actions by Republicans in a long time Republican House members killed the current farm bill cause they wanted drastic cuts in the food stamp programs while simulataneously calling for increases in subsidies to wealthy farmers and large agribusiness corporations, such as, Archers, Daniels Midland, Cargill and Monsanto.
Now house Republicans want to seperate the two so they can't be charged with being opposed to helping the truly needy while artificially redistributing taxpayer dollars to wealthy farmers and corporations who don't need it and probably should be permitted to go out of business if they can't compete in the market place without government subsidies.
My guess is that little ploy just isn't going to work. SNAP and Farm Subsidies were combined in the same legislation for a damned good reason. To bring rural & urban communities together in a common and mutually beneficial manner. This naked attempt at reverse socialism by Republicans can only further the divide between growing urban/suburban communities and shrinking rural ones. It's not just bad or stupid public policy it's fucking immoral public policy.
