Back in the Gen X days... my mother would drop me off at Grandma's when she went to work, and Grandma would watch Richard Simmons every day. She never exercised... She just watched the curly headed gaydar beacon do his thing. This man is an icon... I am certain there will be some sad folks even though he told them not to be.

Fitness guru Richard Simmons posted on social media Monday that he is “dying” in a cryptic post in which he said everyone else is also nearing their demise.

The former TV mainstay-turned-recluse, now 75, authored seven posts on the social media platform X that left many people scratching their heads.

“I have some news to tell you. Please don’t be sad,” Simmons wrote late Monday morning. “I am ….dying.”

“Oh I can see your faces now. The truth is we all are dying,” he added. “Every day we live we are getting closer to our death. Why am I telling you this?”

He was an icon. Haven't seen a picture of him in years, if not decades, but I can vividly remember what he looks like just seeing his name.

I preferred Eddie Murphy as Little Richard Simmons.
That bit was hysterically funny.

Too bad for the other guy, though, especially if he isn't ready to go.

He backtracked from the statement...

He apologizes for misleading folks...

Richard Simmons apologizes for cryptic Facebook post saying he’s ‘dying’

Richard Simmons has issued an apology to fans following an attention-grabbing social media post that left many concerned for his health and wellbeing.

The eccentric fitness personality — who rose to fame on daytime TV in the 1980s but has lived a reclusive life for much of the past decade — apologized for a cryptic Facebook message Monday morning in which he shared “news” with his followers that he’s “dying.”

He returned to the platform hours later to address the worrisome post.

“Sorry many of you have gotten upset about my message today. Even the press has gotten in touch with me. I am not dying,” he wrote on his verified Facebook account. “It was a message about saying how we should embrace every day that we have. Sorry for the confusion. Love, Richard.”
