I'm listening to NPR running an errand this morning and they had an "expert" from some NGO on there talking about the upcoming mass deportation.
So his logic is that even red states like Iowa won't want to decimate their work force for the meat packing industry so we shouldn't be too worried.
As a business owner when I hire someone I need a social security number and have to file this pesky form called an i9. This is required of me by law under threat of armed men coming and closing my business and raiding my bank. This is not new but long standing policy.
So what in the frosty fuck goes on at these meat packing plants where they are able to have an army of undocumented workers there? Is the IRS and State government just overlooking it? How are they paid? How do the business' file quarterly reports? Annual payroll reports?
Simple logic tells you laws are being broken massively more so by the employers than the illegals. Who can blame the illegals if the government is just turning a blind eye. If you think there isn't a problem then please explain the nuts and bolts of this to me. Of course it all makes sense if you're going to throw the borders wide open that you also will do zero real enforcement at any level. The grift on this one is unbelievably large with roots deep in the Federal gov.
In case anyone is wondering. Trump knows this and this is exactly what he's going to clean up. Again it will be painful when meat prices go up because packing plants are forced to comply with employment and labor laws. And of course this will affect the entire food supply. As long as I understand prices are going up because we're cleaning up corruption and not because we're printing money to hand out I personally can live with it. Hopefully the reduced regulations on energy will offset it some but hard times are coming folks but it's a needed fix.
