NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — Two Republican lawmakers in Tennessee filed a bill that would change the name of part of a road that's named for a civil rights leader and former congressman.

Instead, that portion near the Tennessee State Capitol in Nashville would be named after former President Donald J. Trump.

The bill would rename a portion of Rep. John Lewis Way in Nashville to President Donald Trump Boulevard.

The change would affect the portion of the road between Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and James Robertson Parkway, near the State Capitol.

There are many streets in Nashville to choose from if they want to honor a traitor to America. Choosing to rename John Lewis Way is an insult to all black people and especially to the late John Lewis. But I'm not in the least surprised. These are Republicans we are talking about.

The GOP is out to be the troll party. They're doing good at that and culture wars. Too bad they can't govern.

I wonder why Tennessee named their road after a Georgia congressman in the first place........should have been Blood and Gore Road......

John Lewis went to college in Nashville, and had long standing ties to the community, so the local government named a road after him. The state government is trying to overturn that, and name it after a person with no connection to the local community, and little support in the local community.

You ARE aware that Tennessee chose electors for Trump in 2016 and 2020.....right?

You ARE aware that Nashville, Tennessee chose to not vote for trump in 2016 and 2020... right?

Nashville would be the local community in this case, and Tennessee would be the state. Do you see how that works?
