Romney. The new "Maverick"?

Now that Graham has turned from "Maverick wannabe" to a cowardly Trump lackey, maybe Romney has decided to take up the cause. I often wonder how truly disappointed McCain must be in how his protege turned out.

Right on Romney

Sticking it to Trump.

The vote to convict is bipartisan.

To acquit is partisan.

Who are the partisans now?

Romney did the right thing. He is allowed to vote on the evidence and his conscience. The Repubs are shocked that someone still respects those things. Romney said Trump acted illegally.

Romney's speech should be required viewing for Repugnant reprogramming after Trump is blown out of office.

Romney's speech ignores that Trump was denied witnesses in the House and the fact that Quid-Pro-Quo Joe isn't above the law and has ZERO immunity to being investigated just because he's a weak and comical leftist socialist Democrat candidate for a job he could never handle.

Romney's NO maverick he's simply a Never Trumper Neo-Con RINO poor loser suffering from Trump Derangement Syndrome, because he lost and Trump showed him how to win and rejected him, (Romney), to be Secretary Of State.

Romney went from being a racist and sexist in 2012 to earning newfound respect in 2020. You look at his voting record in the Senate and its still conservative. We'll see how long this Romney is a patriot talk lasts.

Here's the only speech that matters:

"It will be unprecedented if the Senate says secondhand and third hand testimony from unelected civil servants is enough to overturn the people's vote. It will be an unprecedented constitutional crisis if the Senate agrees to set the bar this low forever.

"It is clear what this moment requires. It requires the Senate to fulfill our founding purpose. The framers built the Senate to provide stability — to take the long view of our republic. To safeguard institutions from the momentary hysteria that sometimes consumes our politics. To keep partisan passions from literally boiling over.

"The Senate exists for moments like this. That's why this body has the ultimate say in impeachment.

"The framers knew the House would be too moveable to transient passions and violent factionalism. They needed a body that would consider legal questions about what has proven and political questions about what the common good of our nation requires."

"Back in June, Speaker Pelosi promised the House would build an ironclad case. Never mind that she was basically promising impeachment months, months before the Ukraine events, but that’s a separate matter. She promised an ironclad case. And in March, Speaker Pelosi said this: 'Impeachment is so divisive to the country that unless there is something so compelling and overwhelming and bipartisan, I don’t think we should go down that path because it divides the country,' end quote,"

"By the Speaker’s own standards, the standards she set, she has failed the country. The case is not compelling, not overwhelming, and as a result not bipartisan. The failure was made clear to everyone earlier this week when Senator Schumer began searching for ways the Senate could step out of our proper role and try to fix the House Democrats’ failures for them."

"And it was made even more clear last night when Speaker Pelosi suggested that House Democrats may be too afraid, too afraid to even transmit their shoddy work product to the Senate. Mr. President, it looks like the prosecutors are getting cold feet. In front of the entire country and second-guessing whether they even want to go to trial."

Every sentient poster on this board and in Congress knows what Trump did was wrong, way over the line, and an abuse of the office of the presidency. Romney just happens to be one of the few republicans to show ethical character and be honest about what went down

Romney is a lib. For example, he did more than just about anyone else to sodomize America with same-sex marriage. He voted against Trump because he's a lib, not because of any evidence Dems imagined they had against Trump.

Romney was the 2012 GOP presidential nominee and presumptive leader of the Republican party at that time. Republican primary voters do not nominate liberals, leftists" or socialists to represent them

The only posters here who are incapable of admitting the office of the presidency should never be used to solicit foreign governments for help undermining a domestic political opponents are posters who eschew honesty and utterly lack character and a moral code of conduct.

Why no Democrat “mavericks”?

McCain would be happy with Romney. Both of them had something in common. Trump defeated the person claimed to be the most qualified to ever run for the office and neither McCain nor Romney could beat the unqualified black boy that made the claim.
