Russia's special forces killed several men linked to the so-called "Islamic State" (IS) group who took two guards hostage at a detention center in the southern city of Rostov, Russia's Federal Penitentiary Service said Sunday. "The criminals were eliminated," Russia's Federal Penitentiary Service said in a statement, describing how a "special operation" had taken place to free the hostages. "The employees who were being held hostage were released. They are uninjured," the statement continued. The siege took place Sunday at Detention Center 1 of the Rostov region, the prison service said. The Interfax news agency said there were six hostage-takers. The men were said to have been armed with knives and other sharpened objects. ....
Russian media speculated that they could be among those convicted of plotting an attack on the Supreme Court of Karachay-Cherkessia, a Muslim-majority Russian republic in the Caucasus.

This is what happened with the Karachay-Cherkessia plot.

As always, there are two sides to every story.

In Karachay-Cherkessia, a criminal case has been initiated against the former head of the criminal investigation department of the republican Ministry of Internal Affairs - he is suspected of abuse of power.

This was reported by the Department of the Investigative Committee for Karachavo-Cherkessia. According to the department, in 2022, the suspect learned that his friend was accused of illegal possession of weapons and hooliganism. Then he instructed his subordinate, who did not know about the illegality of the order, to draw up documents on the voluntary surrender of these weapons and remove the man from the building of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Tom managed to escape from the police who were looking for him and left the country.

Earlier, another case was opened against the ex-head of the criminal investigation department and another of his subordinates - about abuse of power and illegal trafficking in weapons and ammunition. The investigators are not disclosing the plot of this accusation, and the name of the suspect has not been named.

According to the publication "AiF Stavropol", we are talking about Alexander Kasich. The earlier case involved his illegal possession of a hunting rifle and ammunition. Subsequently, it is alleged, Kasich gave this weapon to a subordinate, and he planted it on a resident of the republic.

Doesn't justify terrorism, but interesting that the criminal investigators are themselves criminal ..
