Schools and universities are ground zero for America’s culture war

It is in school where they learn that social hierarchies do not necessarily correspond to personal merit; it is in school where they discover the mistakes of the past, and where they gain the tools not to repeat them.

No wonder the DeSantis right, with it’s fear of critique and devotion to regressive modes of domination, seems to hostile to letting kids learn: education is how kids grow up to be the kinds of adults they can’t control.

When I started undergrad I was still kinda like my parents. I thought Ronald Reagan was OK! My views changed over time and I became more and more liberal...but not because of anything I was learning in university.. No, it was from talking and listening to different people. Learning new ways to look at stuff by seeing outside of the bubble I had been raised in.

Over time I gave up the soft form of racism that pervaded much of my home town. I gave up my homophobia as I learned that I had some friends who were gay.

In short: I GREW UP.

And I'm thankful for all the friends and associates who helped open my eyes over the years. But none of it came from the classroom.

The sad truth is that in the real world personal merit most often corresponds to ones place hierarchies. What's not taught in the leftist indoctrination centers across the country is, thinking. If you don't believe me look at how leftists react whenever a black person as the audacity to think for themselves and doesnt want to shuck and jive to lefties tune.

Which is why the Right fears higher education. They push for indoctrination, while claiming that 'Liberal' colleges are doing just that. Projection. It's a common ploy that was enhanced under trump.

College teaches students to think. Once they do, they realize that their options are varied in life. What they learned at the dinner table might no longer be something they care to follow.
