Senate votes to block Trump from future military strikes on Venezuela

The Senate voted 52-47 to block President Donald Trump from further military action in Venezuela.

Five Republicans senators helped Democrats pass the motion.

The move came less than a week after Trump authorized a strike that captured the country’s leader, Nicolás Maduro.

The vote in the Senate was procedural, but it indicates that the measure has the votes to pass when it comes to a final vote in the Senate.

Do you think he'll veto it?

This isn't legislation. I'm not sure if the veto power extends to anything beyond legislation.

I don't think Trump should be able to wrest control of war authorization authority from Congress by claiming the right to veto.
The President can veto a joint resolution from Congress concerning the War Powers Act.

But don't just trust me, here's a news source that can explain it to you....

The resolution will now go to a full floor debate in the Senate. It must be passed by both Chambers of Congress to reach Trump’s desk. The president could then veto the resolution. Overriding the veto would require two-thirds support from both the Republican-controlled House and Senate, a likely insurmountable threshold.

So you are a fan of a president taking unilateral military action without any authorization or even consultation with Congress.

A normal Libertarian would be outraged by trumps actions

Giving you information about how vetoes work means I am "in support of" things only if you are an idiot.

You said he cannot. I am pointing out he can.

Let's ask the same question we started with, now with new information in your head: Do you think he will veto it?

I've never seen you start a thread or consistently post your opposition to Trump's attack on Venezuela or his threats to mount future attacks and put American boots on the ground.

And you will cheer

It was just too easy

So little resistance
Or none....the few reports of resistance look sketchy.

We did however strike some important for civilization sites.....I think the message was "Defy the Empire and we will destroy you".....do as you are told or we will murder you long being how America has operated.
