Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum says "I don't believe in an America where the separation of church and state is absolute".

He was referring to a 1960 speech by then-presidential candidate John F. Kennedy on religion and governance, which Santorum said "makes me throw up."

"Because the first line, first substantive line in the speech says, 'I believe in America where the separation of church and state is absolute," the former Pennsylvania senator said. "You bet that makes you throw up."Santorum said Kennedy "was trying to tell people of faith that you will do what the government says, we are going to impose our values on you."

Ah, the one place where STY isn't horrified about the government infringing on rights, when they tell people about how jesus said to nuke the muslims because abortion is bad.

Edit: Apparently STY was being sarcastic, I retract the above statement.

This should get lots more Catholic votes for the GOP next November.

The idea that the church would not control every facet of his life scares Santorum.

good to know just how little santorum believes in our constitution - he is scary in that he might actually win the nomination and if things take a serious down turn by election time he might wind up president, that would suck greatly

Love how the Conservatives love the Constitution when it comes to protecting Corporate rights, but when it comes to individual freedom and freedom of religen... they hate it!

Remember there last president said...."Its just a piece of paper"

It's the good old double standard, anything against christians is "soul rape" and "Stalinistic attacks on religion" but anything against other religions is "The way the founders intended it, after all we are a christian nation."

I reiterate, if churches want to play politics, we should tax them. Because they're no longer churches, just another special interest group.

Separation of church & state makes Granule throw up, as well.

Feel free to carry a barf bag as you go about your day. The separation of church and state has been ruled on numerous times by our highest court.

I doubt anything short of a revolution would remove it now.

It may have to come to that. Secularism is a cancer.

Religious control of unwilling subjects is the cancer. After centuries of living in fear, people are finally standing up and demanding their freedom from those who would use religion to control them.

If that bothers you, feel free to complain. But I would not recommend an actual revolution.

Nonsense. I say let them revolt. It is far easier to spot them that way. Plus it would give us an excuse to kick the ever living shit out of them.
