This is for the low information voters particularly those who support the douchebag in chief.

So Obama says that by getting more money than last year, they just can't possibly do the same things they did last year

Let's say a a guy expects a 5% raise from his employer this upcoming year and only gets a 3% raise.

He then turns to his family and says "Time to cancel cable, cellphones, Gymnastics, vacation" even though they did all those things last year with 3% less

That is Obama's argument and the low information voters eat it up

Except for the part where your metaphor didn't include that to pay all those bills the guy took out a second mortgage on his house and was prostituting his daughter. If he'd gotten a 40% raise he might be able to pay, but as it stands, 3% doesn't cut it
