this country was founded upon the basis of limited government, in essence, to leave us alone unless we were committing crimes against others.

so should the government have the power to force us to reveal things we've hidden from their knowledge????

If a judge orders you to decrypt the only existing copies of incriminating files, are your constitutional rights against compelled self-incrimination being violated?

That’s the provocative question being raised as a Wisconsin man faces a deadline today either to give up his encryption keys or risk indefinite imprisonment without a trial.

Why not? What are you hiding?
I just don't think I'm doing anything the government (or anyone else) would be all that interested in. I don't cheat on my taxes, I go on jury duty if called, and am generally pretty law-abiding where the government is concerned.

As far as my more personal life, I can't imaging the government cares if I cheat on my wife (I don't), lust after my neighbor's wife (not usually) or do any number of other things most people would just as soon keep hidden. And if the government found out, assuming it doesn't suddenly become a theocratic form of government, I can't imagine them telling anyone. So, this is just another one of those "don't care" questions to me.

Matter of fact, I'd rather a few MORE cameras positioned around the neighborhood so I could see who's dog keeps crapping on my morning newspaper.
