'SNL' takes kids to Ted Cruz Street with Big Bird

"Saturday Night Live" opened this weekend's show with Sen. Ted Cruz taking kids to "Ted Cruz Street," a play on "Sesame Street," on a channel called "Newsmax Kids."

The Texas senator, who was played by Aidy Bryant, welcomed everyone to the show while standing near a stoop.

"Hello, I'm Texas senator and last one invited to Thanksgiving, Ted Cruz," Bryant's Cruz said opening the show. "You know for fifty years I stood by as 'Sesame Street' taught our children dangerous ideas like numbers and kindness."

But Bryant's Cruz then explained that when Big Bird tweeted about receiving his Covid-19 vaccine, he had enough and created his own "Sesame Street."

"It's a gated community where kids are safe from the woke government," Bryant's Cruz explained about the show.

The first guest on "Ted Cruz Street" was Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, played by Cecily Strong, who was carrying an AR-15.

I wish it was funny. There was a time when SNL was funny. Now is not that time. With so much to work with that the jokes could almost write themselves they managed to make it suck.

But I do. Honestly, if they are funny I love it regardless of what side of the political aisle they are making fun of. I loved Dana Carvey playing Bush and when Will Farrel played Janet Reno, that was to notch. This was just badly written and performed.

Like I said, with so much to work with they managed to make it suck. Janet Reno's dance hour. Dana Carvey practicing the speech in the restroom... "Recession bad, recovery good... okay I think I got that!" sh*t was HILARIOUS. This? Sucked.

I watched the very first episode. I watch it still. People who complain it "used to be funny" really have not been watching it at all.

The thirtieth time of Rosanne Rosannanada?! It was funny once or twice but that character was not funny.

Definitely. And Land Shark. That was a funny once then overdone too. Doesn't change what I say one whit. They took almost pure comic gold and made it suck dirty unshaven balls.
