'Snowball's chance in hell' Canada will merge with US: Trudeau

Ottawa (AFP) – There is not a "snowball's chance in hell" that Canada will merge with the United States, outgoing Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said Tuesday, while his foreign minister added the country will "never back down" from threats by Donald Trump.

The comments from Trudeau and Foreign Minister Melanie Joly followed the US President-elect's statement at a news conference about using "economic force" in pursuit of his unlikely plan for Canada to merge with the United States.

"There isn't a snowball's chance in hell that Canada would become part of the United States," Trudeau reacted on X, while also highlighting close bilateral security and trade ties.

Joly, meanwhile, accused Trump of showing with his remarks "a complete lack of understanding" of Canada.

"Our economy is strong. Our people our strong. We will never back down in the face of threats," she said on the social media platform owned by Trump ally Elon Musk.

Trump spoke in a meandering press conference Tuesday, a day after Congress certified his election victory.

Trudeau resigned.

Absolutely, nor will Denmark sell Greenland or Panama surrender the Canal, all just trolling for the MAGA militia to deflect off of real issues
Okay. Let's look at the real issues:

Biden is busy 'pardoning' people that have not been convicted, as if that is somehow going to protect them.
The dollar has been devalued by over 33% since Biden was installed.
Democrat election fraud is still a big problem, but at least it wasn't enough to cause the election to fault like 2020.
Democrats are STILL trying to fear monger a 'pandemic'. Some of you fools are STILL wearing masks!
The Washington Post is laying people off.
Trudeau has resigned.
Democrats lost control of the House, the Senate, the Supreme Court, most State governorships, most State legislatures, and the White House.
New Jersey no longer requires it's school teachers to be able to read or write.
New York can't find anyone that wants to work in their police force, since police there have been barred from doing their job.
Democrats want to start a civil war and have attempted to assassinate Trump several times.
The Church of Global Warming has lost it's status as a state religion.
The Church of the EV has lost it's status as a state religion.

Democrats continue to project their problems on Trump.

Trudeau isn't Canada.

Canadian MP Charlie Angus responded to President-elect Donald Trump's proposal to make Canada the 51st U.S. state by noting that existing laws prevent "sexual abusers" from leading his nation.

In a Monday post on his Truth Social platform, Trump claimed that many "people in Canada LOVE being the 51st State."

"The United States can no longer suffer the massive Trade Deficits and Subsidies that Canada needs to stay afloat," he continued. "If Canada merged with the U.S., there would be no Tariffs, taxes would go way down, and they would be TOTALLY SECURE from the threat of the Russian and Chinese Ships that are constantly surrounding them. Together, what a great Nation it would be!!!"
