Some Republicans Want to Raise Voting Age After Gen Z Midterm Turnout

My grandson and granddaughter are part of Gen Z and both of them voted too?!!

As Gen Z headed to the polls this week, conservative commentators had a message for young voters: please stop.

Tuesday’s midterm election saw Gen Z come out strong for Democrats, including for their generation’s first U.S. representative:

Maxwell Frost, a 25-year-old Democrat from Florida. The young blue bloc left Fox News personalities dismayed, with other conservative voices suggesting that the minimum voting age be raised from 18 (currently enshrined in the Constitution) to 21 or 28.

There are roughly 17 million teens in high school in America. I figure at least 1/3rd of them are graduating this year- and every year!

So that would be about 5 to 6 million of them becoming eligible to vote and graduating this year and another 5 to 6 million next year before the 2024 election.

These stats give Republicans the Willies!

I mean uh, that's a duh lotsa' poteeeential Demycrats right thar!

Every parent knows their own children's politics- or something lesser, perhaps their personal feelings about sensitive things that matter to them.

School age children today are not bogged down with racism like some of their parents are. They have friends of every creed or color.

They are not bogged down with religion like some of their parents are. These are kids- they go to church and have fun. Kids make everything fun! Church is fun for kids.

Children today are not hung up about LBGTQ issues like their parents are. Kids no more about this stuff than their parents do. They know what is abnormal, and they accept that the world is going to have some abnormalties in it- and carry own about their own business.

They are not hung up about abortions- IN FACT, they probably figure, "Who knows, may need one someday".

They are not hung up about guns, as they fear them and feel threatened by them- they now fear for their lives because of them- special thanks to you Guntards!

Kids today say their favorite subjects are Science and History- probably because- so they can study them before you Republicans burn their books!

But here is the main thing that school children today are not hung up in or involved in- and that is............wait for it............HATEFUL POLITICS!

And no parent is ever going to change their children's own opinions on any of these personal matters, as even if they tried, the child would instantly rebel!

When your children rebel- they don't vote along with you anymore! Anybody- but who you vote for- is more like it.

AND EVERY STUDENT KNOWS DAMN WELL THAT THEIR PARENTS RAISED THEM, OR ARE NOW RAISING THEM, TO NOT GROW UP AND BECOME SOMEONE LIKE DONALD TRUMP- a hateful, criminal, vindictive, racist, lying, and cheating person who is a sore loser and spoiled sport!! If they ever behaved like Donald Trump, in front of their parents, they would have been severely punished for it- AND THEY KNOW IT!

And they witnessed it all themselves, with their own eyes and ears, on the living room Wide Screen TV in Hi Definition w/Dolby sound on the 6 o'clock local news!

They can't just UN-SEE that!

Of course they do. Anything to supress the vote. It's the MAGA way. We can't have the people choosing their leaders, the Republicans prefer to do it for them.

A majority of House Democrats on Wednesday voted to lower the federal voting age from 18 to 16.

Democratic Massachusetts Rep. Ayanna Pressley introduced the legislation Tuesday evening as an amendment to House Democrats’ “For The People Act,” which would overhaul federal election laws.
Pressley’s amendment fell short at 126-305.
House Democrats voted 125-108 in favor of Pressley’s amendment, with two members voting present and three members not voting.
