Somehow, school curriculum in kuwait or venezeula seems trival now...

Is the UN attempting to do anything at all to help these people? Are they even discussing it? This is fascism, pure and simple; sounds like the Gestapo all over again.

Yeah a special envoy is talking with them. He was supposed to have spoken with the military today....

In relation to life and and death nothing else compares.

Had you and others not made such a big deal over our discussion of Venezuelan schools that thread would not have been very long and the conversation would have ended after one post. Instead you and others choose to drag it out.

The UN exists to negotiate peace, not to invade and replace governments, even highly objectionable governments. We've already seen how effective such cowboy politics are.

This whole situation is so putrid, and really shows the unmentionables of quite a few countries, not to mention companies. According to something I read from Greepeace, BP and Sunoco have the least troublesome records. Chevron and Exxon/Mobile are defintely f'd up.

China sucks. In this country not that many people in the activist community care enough to sustain large protests at the UN. They are too busy with the upcoming war with Iran, or feel that they are. It's just a freaking mess all around, and beyond heart breaking.

These thread titles are stupid. Stop it.

There is a very real situation going on here which you selectively choose to care about while simultaneously bashing our interest in another fomenting crisis.

That would be "our" government, you have as much stake in it as I do.

but I have less of a stake in it than most of you becuase I have fewer years remaining to me. And the economy has been reasonable for most of my life with cheap energy....

To a certain degree Asshat is right. I am just a crusin :)
