Southerners Care.

Not only have we given shelter to our neighbors in the Bahamas devastated by hurricane Dorian, but southerners and businesses do what they can.

For years, visitors to the Siesta Key Oyster Bar in Sarasota, Florida, have been stapling dollar bills to the walls, to the ceiling, to the columns…anywhere they could find an open space. The place was quite literally covered in dollar bills, and it was famous for it.

But last month, employees of the neighborhood bar began the arduous task of removing the bills in order to donate the money to the parts of the Bahamas devastated by Hurricane Dorian.
Siesta Key Oyster Bar General Manager Kristin Hale told Weather.com that so far they’ve collected about $15,000. She said the staff has worked through all of September to gently remove the bills from the walls and columns.
