It is so interesting to me to watch history in the making.

I have been thinking about Space X's plan to colonize Mars. What an amazing concept, whose parallels reach so directly into our history. We really should study what worked when private enterprise pushed Western Civilization further West into the Americas and what did not work. Imagine the Mars War for independence. Imagine the trade between the Colony and Earth, imagine the Rebellion and how they will become a separate but incredibly similar entity to the culture that created the Mars civilization. Its really mind blowing.

Logically it makes more sense for space exploration to be done remotely, with robotics. But it doesn't feel the need in us to *be there* as a species, does it?

I'm glad we have visionaries like Elon Musk.

We can send the politicians to Mars first, to see if it's safe.

He is planning on having humans live there, and within his own lifetime.
