State of Conservatism

isn't it funny that for 8 years they couldn't see the truth about Bush/Cheney and backed everything he did without one bit of dissension, but it only took a couple of months for them to turn on him.

We understood that 'deficits DO matter' (disproving conservative trickle down-voodoo economics)
We understood that war for profit could only hurt this country.
We understood that conservative activist judges on the Supreme Court would create laws that would favor foreign corporations over American workers.
We understood that duct tape and plastic would not save you from the false charge that Saddam could attack us in 40 minutes.
We understood that outsourcing production to China would hurt Americans.
We don't believe the rich should be treated like royalty and they should pay their fair share.
It didn't take long to realize Bush's purpose as president was to enrich his base. You remember... the haves and the have mores. (if you don't I'll post the video again)

And worst of all they don't understand that the policies they backed for the last 30 yrs have gotten us into the mess we're in. And now they are trying to blame it on Obama, what a laugh.

and on and on and on....

Face it neocons you have no credibility.
Yea no shit. I'll be the first to admit that I aint thrilled about the pace of the economic recovery but vote for the idiot Republicans who put us into this hole in the first place? I don't think so. Homey don't play that!

Oh really? As a Conservative, I've never been in lock-step with the GOP. Ever.
When ever have you been a conservative? A conservative is a person who believes in the status quo and that change for change sake is to be avoided but neccessary changes are to be adopted when appropriate. A reactionary is a person who opposes progress for any reason. You sir are the latter. You have opposed every needed progressive reform that we've needed. You are in no way shape or form a conservative and you're own track record proves it.

More typical Moot argument, trying to define my political philosophy and then arguing on that basis. Yet the Conservative Movement is about limited government, not at all about holding the status quo. You'll never admit that simple fact since the remainder of all your arguments against conservatism will all be indefensible.

If conservative movement is about limited govt, why did you vote for Bush when you knew he was bad for America?
I'll tell you why, because you are a Faux news lemming.

The premise of your argument "Bush was bad for America" as well as its reasoning are both wrong. :)

Crash if Democrats understand that deficits do matter why has the deficit exploded even more under four years of Democratic control of Congress and two years of a Democratic presidency?

The Republicans didn't put us in this mess. The idiots in BOTH parties in DC put us in this mess. That seemingly intelligent people would fall for the stupid Dem party talking points is amazing.

The repeal of Glass Steagall put us in this mess.
The non-stop spending increases since 1965 put us in this mess.
The yearly increases in our national debt since 1960 put us in this mess.

Hopefully, one day, the idiots who continue buying the party lines will wake the fuck up and quit voting for the same people time and again all the while expecting different results.

Because like their Rep predecessors, the deficit only matters when the OPPONENT is in charge.

I remember it all so clearly.....

....seven years of a great economy (at least until a Democratic Congress took over)

Led the country with skill after 9/11, thanks to co-operation from everyone in Washington...

Won a war in 21 days, with a coalition of 49 countrys, ousted a murderous tyrant and gave an entire population of millions, a chance at self government...a war that required support by more that a few Democrats to even begin.

Presided over a country at near full employment, 4.5 to 6 % unemployment, stability,....and a booming stock market.......

No personal scandals amid a scathing effort by a media to dishonor his service, disrespect him and his wife and daughters personally, and to destroy his Presidency....

And now we have a new President that if anything is following in Bush's footsteps on foreign policy,... the serious and important matters, Iraq, Afghanistan....with nary a bitch from the lefties...

The only deviation has been in the economy, (spending, government takeovers, GM, Banking, housing, Healthcare, with disastrous results so far.....

And ironically, the comedy of "its Bushs fault" continues....

Because your party (and mine) gave us Al Gore and Herman Munster as an alternative. I'm telling you, almost any candidate besides Kerry could have beaten Bush in 2004...I didn't even vote for Bush then and I had voted for the Republican candidate in every election up to then.

Yes, I was simply responding to the trolling.... intelligence is defined by the topic being discussed, it is not defined by money or degrees. Many people with degrees are idiots. Many people without degrees are geniuses in their fields.

Bottom line is this.... Conservatives voted for Bush... twice

Liberals voted for the men who LOST to Bush.

enough said.
And we are all still paying for it and will be for some time to come, thanks dufus and dufusers!

When are you going to quit making a fool of yourself by throwing Bush under the bus? You and the GOP walked in lock step with Bush to the very bitter end of his administration. Now you want to distance your self from his policies and ineptitude? That's a joke man. To say no one believes you and you have little credibility making that comment is a vast understatement.
And saying he wasn't conservative enough, what did it take giving Ken Lay a blow job on national TV?

Great article.

Personally, I see the Republican Party potentially moving in a very good direction. People are more concerned with jobs, taxes, and cutting government waste than with what others do in their bedroom. The RR is losing its strangle hold on the party and I believe this will go a long way in attracting young voters. Young people such as myself love freedom. We just don't want a bunch of stuffy, old, über-religious quacks running the show. (Just to clarify, I am a Christian. I just don't believe in forcing my moral and doctrinal framework on others).
