This world now has some 7 billion people in it who all need to be feed.Nature alone is not up to that task.We need genetic engendering to provide us with what nature cant.We need new medicines and resources. GE will also help humans live longer stronger and more healthy. I have no objection at all for eating GMO.

Actually the world produces much, much more food than can be consumed. Civilised countries discard 40-50% of all food produced. The problem is not the amount of food but the distribution systems and the stupidity of people who demand identical products at all times. A lot of Americans now shop at farmers' markets, more than in UK as far as I know. This is a good thing but it's not enough. GM companies MUST be brought under control. Distribution MUST be revolutionised. Supermarket control MUST curtailed. And now is quite late enough. EVERY year the GM companies control more of what you eat. It is now just about impossible to buy tomatoes and maize that has not been genetically modified.
When I was a kid a grocery shop would operate on a mark-up of 25-50%. Now supermarkets whose operating costs per item are substantially less will not work for less than 100% MU.
If Americans want to put their guns to good use, hold up supermarkets and redistribute their stock. Don't buy their shares.

Holy shit, a pro-GMO hippy? Well, I suppose that makes you an independent thinker. I agree with you... I think it should be explored carefully, but the bottom line is that as world population skyrockets, GMO is the only conceivable way to feed everyone.

Ive read quite a bit on genetic engineering. Its really interesting.the things the the Anti-GMO people are saying is coming out of Science fiction. Genetics is a very finely controlled science.Its not going to create monsters like in the movies. What I do object to is Monsanto holding all the patents. Thats a monopoly.

And when we (many of us) are dead and gone monsanto and their ilk will control everything on your dining table. You will be born into debt. Every penny you earn will be consigned to half a dozen companies and half a dozen people. THAT is the future if you and I dont stop the Monsantos of the world. Water? Buy it. Food? Buy it. No, you cannot grow your own because they have all the seeds and all seeds are single generation.
If they knew how to charge you for the air, they would. Wait a cotton pickin moment... they DO. pollution means that you will pay more to live in clean air! No money? Die at 40. Got money? live in clean air and see out your natural span.
And you are worried about your government? They have nothing to do with the real power! The real power uses YOU to get richer and control more every day.
