Enjoy your Sunday...

The compensation of minimum wage workers is such an insignificant part of most companies bottom lines that it's absurd to say that they'll have to go on a firing spree to make up for it. Also, it is to be remembered that employees are hired for a reason. For fast food companies in particular, they're usually targeting a certain speed of service. Firing 1/3 of your workers to wholly make up the difference in wages would be incredibly foolish, that would vastly increase wait times - customers would generally be more than willing to pay a couple of more cents for their meal rather than wait longer. And it's not like raising prices is the only option. Literally the dumbest thing a business could do would be to fire workers to make up the difference. That'd be like protesting rising gas prices by not going driving to work a few days a week - you'll just wind up fired, and proven an idiot, like most rightists.

Most likely they'll be replaced by either workers with a greater skill set (such as requiring an assocites degree) or they'll automate the workplace. That's how it happened in manufacturing and farming.

They do seem to be mathematically impaired, don't they? The reality is they would add about $0.25/happy meal and life goes on. When adjusted for inflation the minimum wage is currently at the historic low end. I see no problem adjusting it for inflation to a median value. It would do more good than harm and you get to watch people who like watching small children starve whine and cry about how they are being abused. :)

Meh....more than likely they're going to add a quarter to the price of your happy meal. Good chance when it happens you wouldn't even notice it.

Yeah, they will raise prices on everything too, just like they did with cars (remember when cup holders weren't an 'option')? But that didn't keep button pushers any more employed.
