Three top domestic issues, and on each issue, the GOP states are at the bottom of the barrel.

Yet they still vote Republican because stopping a gay couple from getting married, stopping their neighbor's teenage daughter from getting an abortion, and stopping some commie from burning an american flag, is so much more important than jobs, wages, education and healthcare.

The same dismal pattern applies to a wide array of measures of social dysfunction and pathology. 8 of the top 10 states with the highest murder rates are squarely in Red America. 7 of the 10 states with the lowest murder rates were in the Kerry column. (Interestingly, six of those states have no death penalty statute.) The 10 states with the highest divorce rates in 1998 all went for Bush in 2004. Red states constituted 9 on the top 10 in terms of out-of-wedlock births. And the Bible Belt has the greatest percentage of births to women under age 20, with the worst 15 states nationwide all among in the GOP ranks. By almost any measure of societal breakdown that so-called Republican "values voters" decry, it is Red State America where moral failure is greatest.

Not in the deep south. They vote on guns, gays, bibles, and abortion. That's the point of the thread.

As an MBA grad of a top school, I would think your mind would be a little more analytical than that.

You know full well that cherry-picking one data point (N.O., in this case) is faulty analysis. You could just as easily have picked Seattle or Burlington, Vermont to show how "good" liberals are on crime.

The overall trend - looking at ALL the data - shows that crime prevails in states with crap education, crap economies, and states the voted for bush. ;)

Cypress, you can beat up on Toby with that bullshit but calling new orleans the murder capital is not cherry picking and you know it. The most crime ridden areas are blue cities. And you better believe dems smarter than you and I know people vote their wallets. ie. Clinton/Obama will stay away from middle and upper middleclass tax increases.
Nice bashing on the dumbass cons aqain, maybe you should take on some issues that require and IQ above room temperature to win

Let me give you this spin. Many of these states have Democrats as Govenors or that control the Legislatures. Some of the states have historically voted Democrat, not Republican, until recently so the poor schooling etc has already been in place.

I assume you are having partisan fun here but if you are actually serious red and blue states do not break down so easily along partisan lines.
