Syria's Kurds to talk with Assad.

"A US-backed alliance of Kurdish and Arab fighters says it has agreed to work with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's government towards a "democratic, decentralised Syria" after preliminary talks in Damascus."

This can occur with Russian and American cooperation. Just like Iraqi Kurdistan, there can be a Syrian Kurdistan. It's NOT independence but an autonomous region.

"On 17 March 2016, the day after the declaration of the Democratic Federation of Northern Syria (Rojava), U.S. Defense Secretary Ashton Carter praised the SDF component militia People's Protection Units (YPG) as having "proven to be excellent partners of ours on the ground in fighting ISIL. We are grateful for that, and we intend to continue to do that, recognizing the complexities of their regional role."[155]
During the SDF's May 2016 offensive against ISIL in Northern Raqqa, the presence of U.S. Special Forces was widely reported, and several photographs of them wearing badges of the YPG and YPJ on their uniforms circulated.[156]"

The Northern Federation wants everything east of the Euphrates.

"Syrian government forces on Sunday briefly captured four villages east of the Euphrates River in the eastern province of Deir el-Zour after rare clashes with U.S.-backed Kurdish-led fighters, then lost the area in a counteroffensive by the Kurdish-led force."

"Crossings into the east bank of the Euphrates in eastern Syria by government forces have been rare."

"State news agency SANA said the villages briefly captured by government forces Sunday were held by the U.S.-backed Syrian Democratic Forces, adding that they are close to the provincial capital, also called Deir el-Zour. The SDF said in a statement later that it regained control of the whole area it earlier lost."

"On Feb. 7, pro-Syrian government fighters attacked SDF positions east of the river and faced a ferocious U.S. counterattack that left dozens, including Russians, dead."

A bit dated, but gives a little historical perspective.
