Please explain:
One of the justifications for the war in Afghanistan given by the Republicans is the Taliban's horrible treatment of women.
But look at how the conservatives are treating American women.
I am amazed to learn that there is more than one kind of rape.
Rep. Paul Ryan in a congressional bill, along with Rep. Todd Akin, originally termed it "forcible" rape.
Now, Akin talks of "legitimate" rape (as opposed to "illegitimate"?).
And from the governor of Virginia, rape by the government using medical devices.
We know of the bills supported and sponsored by Ryan and Akin prohibiting all abortions even in the cases of rape and incest.
Thus, women who have been horrendously violated would be forced to suffer daily reminders of their rape.
The GOP Congress defunding Planned Parenthood's preventive cancer care such as Pap smears indicates that Republicans want only wealthy women to obtain these cancer detection measures.
With the GOP passing these repressive measures against women, is the next step to repeal the 19th Amendment and prevent women from voting?
More women vote Democratic than Republican, and the voter ID laws are already more onerous for women who get married and change their names.
So please explain why Americans decry harsh Taliban actions against women.
Thanks to the ultraconservative Republicans, as pertaining to women, the Taliban policies and philosophies repressive to women are already here.
