NJ school teacher arrested for having a child with a 13-year-old student. This is horrible.

The relationship began when teacher Laura Caron was about 26 years old and the child was 11.

In December, the victim's father noticed that the child looked like him and his son, raising concerns.

The alleged crimes took place for about four years, between 2016 and 2020.

Caron taught the victim and his brother when they were in 5th grade.

"Over the years, the parents of the victim said the family became friends with Caron, which ultimately led to them even allowing their boys and daughter to stay at Caron’s home at times," ABC 6 reported.

The children eventually stayed with Caron permanently from 2016 to 2020.

The victim’s sister says her brother was about 11 years old when he started sleeping in the same bed as Caron.

The teacher would reportedly go into the bathroom while the victim was showering, lock the door, and rape him while the other siblings slept.

The victim has admitted to being the father of the child.

An Ohio teacher has a meltdown because Ohio passed the "Parents' Bill of Rights" which requires schools to inform parents if their kid decides to "change their gender", bans gender ideology indoctrination in K-3, and allows parents to opt their kids out of lessons with sexual content.

Why would any teacher be mad about not being able to keep secrets from parents and parents having a say in their children's' education?

Elementary School teacher arrested, accused of smacking student in the face

A teacher at Lemira Elementary School was arrested after being accused of smacking a student in the face.

According to the Sumter County public index, Sharon Louise Benson was arrested on Tuesday.

An incident report stated that on Monday, January 6, Benson smacked the student in the face twice in an attempt to get them to wake up.

The report goes on to say the child had fallen asleep in another teacher’s classroom, was pushed in the hallway and felt Benson poking their chest lightly multiple times. The victim said they felt a slap to the side of the face, fell onto the floor and hit their head.

On Thursday, January 9 law enforcement from the Sumter Police Department (SPD) responded to Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital and spoke with the victim and their aunt in the emergency room.

According to SPD, the aunt told police she was not notified of the incident until Wednesday, January 8.

“This should never happen in South Carolina and this should never happen to anyone’s child in any school anywhere in the world. For a child to literally be sitting and be assaulted by a teacher so hard that they fall to the floor, it’s disturbing as a parent, it’s disturbing as a lawmaker, and it’s disturbing as a lawyer,” said Todd Rutherford, who is representing the victim’s family. “So one of the things we looked at was what was the school district going to do, they turned it over to law enforcement and law enforcement did make an arrest and that’s a start. But now we have to figure out how to heal this child.”

Police said they came to the school and spoke with the principal. They were able to review security footage which they said showed the student being pushed into an “office-type” chair from a classroom into the hallway.

The incident report also states footage showed Benson leaving the classroom and tapping the victim, trying to wake them up. Benson then allegedly smacked the student on the right side of the face two times, causing them to fall off the chair and onto the ground.

The Sumter School District told WIS News 10 in a statement that on Tuesday, January 7, Benson was placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of an investigation. She resigned on Friday, January 10.

For every one of those negative stories you can dig up there are thousands of teachers who have positive stories and positive effects on kids. Teachers who show up to work every day to do a difficult job.

It’s far easier to find your type of stories than articles like the one below. For instance, I keep extra food in my classroom for a few kids who I know are often hungry. There’s no way to tell how many teachers do this same thing…and it goes unnoticed, as it should.

https://www.thekitchn.com/food-insecurity-hunger-affects-students-in-the-classroom-teachers-261822

When people do their jobs as they’re supposed to it’s not written about. How many stories about fair and just law enforcement officials do you read/see as opposed to those who might abuse their power.

You’ll never see more “Teachers in the news” stories that are positive than are negative. But just remember for every one of the stories you link that are negative and highlight the misdeeds of a bad teacher, there are thousands of competent, hard working teachers who are teaching what they’re supposed to and taking care of kids along the way.

I should know better than to respond but I’m a bit hard-headed when it comes to public education. It’s something I’m a bit passionate about.
